Even after rising to stardom after her days in the MCU in the early 2010s, Scarlett Johansson experienced one of her lowest moments after losing a beloved role, which made her reconsider her acting career. Although it’s hard to witness modern Hollywood without the presence of Scarlett Johansson, after losing that role, the actress almost gave up acting, but fortunately, the next project reignited her passion.

2013’s Her still remains one of her best films, as she did exceptional work voicing the AI named Samantha. However, there was one scene in particular that was too much even for her costar Joaquin Phoenix to handle, as he fled the sets.

Scarlett Johansson’s orgasm recordings were too much for Joaquin Phoenix

It appears Scarlett Johansson‘s orgasm recordings for the Phone s-x scene between Joaquin Phoenix‘s Theodore and the phone operating system, were too much even for a perfectionist like Phoenix. According to the Avengers star, she hated hearing her bizarre orgasms recordings, which also resulted in the Joker Star fleeing the sets in order to take a break. She explained,

“We tried to get through one take, and he was, like, losing it. He left the studio. He needed a break. You don’t want to hear your voice ever. You definitely don’t want to hear what you sound like having an orgasm. You definitely don’t want to hear what you sound like having a fake orgasm — ew. It’s so gross. It was so bizarre.”
But apart from recording orgasm sounds for the movie, everything else was great for the actress, as it also reignited her passion for acting after she failed to land her most desired role.

Her reignited Scarlett Johansson’s acting passion after losing Gravity

2013’s Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock is widely considered the actress’ greatest film to date, and it seems Scarlett Johansson came pretty close to surpassing the actress for the movie.  However, losing the project took a big toll on the actress, who considered quitting acting once and for all. She recalled,
“I had wanted that role so much. It was sort of the straw that broke the camel’s back. I felt really frustrated and hopeless. Like, ‘Am I doing the right job?’”
