Scarlett Johansson has worked on movies both good and bad. Some become phenomenal hits while others die before they can even reach the break-even point. However, it does not stop the actress from being one of the most loved and talented souls in Hollywood. She has managed to express her talent through works not just limited to the Marvel Cinematic Universe but also that of Marriage Story, Lucy, and many other films.

Despite her extravagant range of movies, not every experience is wholesome or memorable in a good way. Some even become too tiresome, more brutal. One such experience came with her filming The Island. Michael Bay’s film thinned her out in ways she did not expect, turning her experience to be much more tiresome than she had ever anticipated it to be.

Scarlett Johansson was too Tired too Quickly

Scarlett Johansson, when filming The Island, opened up about her experience and how different yet agonizing it was. As per IMDb, the actress was already run thin by how much work she had to do in such little time. The film was underwhelming at the box office, not being able to excite the fans in ways which they had hoped to. Starring alongside Ewan McGregor, Johansson expressed just how bad things had gotten for her.

“I came home and I thought I was going to die. I was in agony. I had muscles that had atrophied. I couldn’t run any longer and it was only the first day.”

She revealed that in only one day she was worn thin to a crisp, unable to move or run. Her muscles ached with every inch of movement and she truly believed that she would die the moment fatigue took over her. The first day, and the days that followed suit, were all brutal in ways of how physically challenging the movie was.

Evan McGregor had a Similar Experience

Scarlett Johansson further talked about how the experience was not shared by her alone but also by her The Island co-star, Ewan McGregor. According to IMDb, she explained how they were both suffering in just one day. He was in just as much pain and the actor was in fact covered in bruises adorning him black and blue.

“But actually, Ewan was in the same boat. He had black and blue marks all over him. So it wasn’t so bad since someone else was in agony.”
Johansson did joke about how since the experience was not hers alone, it did become easier to bear. Pain is lesser when shared and understood by someone else. McGregor and the Captain America: The Winter Soldier star found solace in each other in this scenario.
