The San Antonio Spurs legend has run BlackJack Speed Shop with long-term business partner Jack Pena since 2013.

It is a one-stop shop that provides everything from wheels and tires to performance upgrades to complete rebuilds.

Duncan did not get his driver’s license until his sophomore year at Wake Forest after growing up in St. Croix.

But since then The Big Fundamental has developed a huge passion for cars and speed, buying a Porsche 911 Turbo soon after he joined the Spurs.

“I love to go and get my cars worked on,” Duncan said.

“I’ve always loved cars. I think it didn’t really take off until later in college [when] I started loving horsepower and speed.

“As I got to the league, I was able to see more and know more about cars. It just kind of grew and grew and grew.”

He now has nine cars, including a 1950 Mercury, an Audi R8 and GMC Yukon, with a six-inch lift and 22×12 tires.

“If I have my kids, I drive something with four doors,” he told Bleacher Report.

“If I don’t have my kids, I can drive whatever I want.”

Duncan got into the car business during the NBA lockout in 2011.

Every day he drove past the Automotive AC shop on the way to the Spurs’ practice center and made an offer to buy it once it went on the market.

Duncan hired Pena to run the shop, with the BlackJack name representing the Hall of Famer’s No. 21 jersey number.

“I want people to walk in there and feel at home and sit down and just be a car community,” Duncan says.

“People enjoy it. I see guys who are regulars here come in and just chill and feel relaxed enough that they can just hang out with us.

“Sometimes I sit behind the counter and just sit with [my colleagues] for hours and just mess around with them.

“That’s the kind of vibe I want.”

A number of Spurs players have had work done on their cars at BlackJack Speed Shop, including Boris Diaw, Manu Ginobili, Kawhi Leonard, Patty Mills, and David Robinson.

Even general manager R.C. Buford and head coach Gregg Popovich have brought their cars to the shop.

“We’ve done tires for Pop. That’s about all we’re allowed to do,” Duncan joked.

Duncan, who earned $242 million in his career, has also taken up mixed martial arts since retiring from the NBA.

Despite being one of the most laid-back players in NBA history, Duncan turns into a “roaring lion” and a “beast” when he enters the MMA ring, according to his trainer.
