Patrick Mahomes and several other NFL stars have expressed their desire to participate in the 2028 LA Olympics, the first time flag football will be an event. However, the current star of the USA’s team wants to give a reality check to Mahomes and others.
Darrell Doucette plays QB for the national team and the 35-year-old led his squad to the top of the podium at the 2022 World Games. In an interview with TMZ, Doucette highlighted that the Kansas City Chiefs star does not hold a candle to him in flag football.
“At the end of the day,” Doucette said to TMZ. “I feel like I’m better than Patrick Mahomes because of my IQ of the game. I’m not saying I’m a better player overall but until he steps on a 5v5 flag field, I’m going to feel that way until it’s proven otherwise! I’m a competitor and need to be proven wrong.”
Doucette further added as per TMZ that flag football “is completely different” than football. Patrick Mahomes and his NFL colleagues were further challenged by Doucette as the flag football star claimed that the NFL stars would lose to the flag football team.

What has Patrick Mahomes said about flag football at the 2028 LA Olympics?
“I definitely want to,” Mahomes told reporters. “But I’ve seen some of those guys play the flag football and they’re a little faster than I am. I know there’s not like linemen blocking for you.”
“I’ll be 31, 32 years old so if I can still move around, then I’m gonna try to get out there and throw the football around, maybe in L.A. Just don’t tell Coach Reid or Veach or anybody.”
It will be interesting to see whether Mahomes or other NFL stars will respond to Darrell Doucette in the coming days.
