Indiana Fever President Sends Top WNBA Free Agents a Major Caitlin Clark Message

Indiana Fever team president Kelly Krauskopf recently spoke with the media for her introductory interview with the organization. Krauskopf was hired just a few weeks ago, following the end of the Fever’s 2024 WNBA season.

During the press conference, Krauskopf was asked about the organization’s future, with the Fever looking to earn its first WNBA title since 2012.

She believes rookie Caitlin Clark will be the leader in getting Indiana back into championship contention.

The first-year star is fresh off winning the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year award, leading Indiana to its first trip to the playoffs since 2016 with a 20-20 record as the No. 6 seed.

Krauskopf believes this offseason will be important in building a roster around Clark to put the Fever in the best position to win a WNBA title. She seems to think she won’t have trouble luring in free agents since the top players in the league will want to play with an elite playmaker like Clark.

“I would think that if you are a smart basketball player and you watch the way [Caitlin Clark] plays, you would want to play with her,” Krauskopf said.

Throughout her rookie season with the Fever, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. The 22-year-old led the WNBA in average assists and led he rookie class in points and assists.

She was also named a WNBA All-Star in her first year in the league, serving as Team WNBA’s starting point guard.

During the WNBA All-Star game, Clark was able to showcase her talent on the same court as established superstars like DeWanna Bonner and Jonquel Jones.

Clark finished the 117-109 win for Team WNBA with four points and 10 assists, breaking the WNBA rookie record for most assists in an All-Star game.

Krauskopf has a lengthy resume in the WNBA, starting her career in the league in 1997 as the Director of Operations. She held that role from 1997-99, just before working as the Indiana Fever general manager from 2000-17.

From 2017-18, Krauskopf was the Indiana Pacers gaming executive and then moved on to be the Pacers’ assistant general manager from 2018-24.
