Being an NBA superstar comes with a massive paycheck, and James Harden converted his into a modern art-inspired mansion

JAMES Harden is on track to be an NBA Hall of Famer and lives the lifestyle of one.

Harden grew from Sixth Man of the Year with the Oklahoma City Thunder to MVP with the Houston Rockets, earning numerous other accolades along the way.

Now in the 17th season of his career, Harden has earned some monster contracts in the past, notably a $228 million extension with the Rockets in 2017.

The NBA superstar spent a fraction of that money on a $10million mansion in Houston.

Even though he’s based in Los Angeles now with the Clippers, playing in the west should make it easier to make the trip home than it was with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The estate is called Memorial Modern and was bought by Harden in 2019.

It sits on 3.5 acres of land in Rivercrest, an exclusive neighborhood in Houston, and is 26,000 square-feet.

Kevin Frankel, co-president of Frankel Building Group, the company who built the home, told Forbes that Harden was the perfect buyer for the property.

“We weren’t surprised this home ended up selling to Harden,” Frankel said.

“Harden, though different from the original owner in terms of career, probably has the same energy and taste for the entertaining, resort-style vibe this home was designed around.”

“Interestingly enough, Harden has been quoted as describing the home as ‘just him.’ It’s very much an extension of his overall demeanor.”

The mansion almost resembles a modern art museum more than a home. The exterior is mainly white and features multiple terraces as well as a long, curved driveway and carport.

The mansion also features plenty of exposed steel to accent the minimalistic white design.

“The amount of steel in this home is insane,” Frankel said.

“We’re not talking about covered steel. This is exposed steel that has been bent, which is something you don’t typically see in residential architecture.”

The kitchen features two white marble islands complimented by white cabinets and offset by black appliances.

It leads out to the pool which is surrounded by purple cabanas.

The master suite features a unique, textured fireplace and vaulted ceilings. Hardwood floors separate it from the style of the rest of the house.

Attached is the master bathroom which ties back into the modern art museum look. The bathroom is coated in white marble and other white accents.

The ceiling is accented with wood, and there is even a barbers chair for Harden to get trimmed up at home.

Other special features of his home include a full bar, a complete wine cellar, and an at home theater.
