New York Knicks center explains why Manhattan is too “fast-paced” for him

NBA star Mitchell Robinson is the country boy who has become a city slicker.

The New York Knicks center is making a strong case to be named NBA Defensive Player of the Year this season, while also leading the league in offensive rebounds.

And the relentless rebounder showed his worth by shutting down San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama at Madison Square Garden earlier this month.

But away from the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple, Robinson enjoys the outdoors, country music, fishing, big trucks, and pet animals.

“I have 19 dogs,” Robinson told the New York Post.

Robinson started out with eight rottweilers – the eldest of which is called Kodak – and that pack has since grown with puppies.

The 25-year-old also owns a labrador and a golden retriever.

Aside from dogs, the Knicks center had sugar gliders – a type of possum – as pets, but his cats ate them.

The native of Pensacola, Florida, is also an expert at fishing, with a knack for catching redfish off boats.

“I cook ’em,’ he said.

“Hell yeah, I grill my fish.”

Robinson also loves country music star Morgan Wallen and has a love of big trucks.

“If you followed my TikTok, you’d know that,” Robinson noted.

It is because of Robinson’s love of the outdoors that he lives in White Plains over Manhattan for his New York residence.

“[New York] is just too fast-paced for me,” he said.

“It’s just not me. It’s too bunched up. I like space.”

Drafted by the Knicks in 2018, Robinson also has a property in Louisiana, which is where he keeps many of his pets.
