Jason Statham Abandons Dwayne Johnson after Black Adam Disaster, Leaves Hobbs and Shaw to Join The Rock’s Rival Vin Diesel’s Fast X

In a shocking turn of events, it seems Hollywood actor Jason Statham has abandoned his Fast & Furious co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after the disaster of the Black Adam movie. Statham, who starred in the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw alongside Johnson, has decided to join the rival camp led by Vin Diesel’s Fast X franchise.

It All Began With The Vin Diesel And Dwayne Johnson Feud

The feud between Diesel and Johnson became public in 2016 during the production of The Fate of the Furious. It escalated, resulting in Johnson leaving the mainline Fast & Furious franchise for the Hobbs & Shaw spin-off.  Johnson left the mainline Fast & Furious franchise after The Fate of the Furious and focused on the spin-off.

The wrestler-turned-actor had originally confirmed his return for F9: The Fast Saga in 2017 but changed his tune a year later, stating that he was unsure if he would return for the ninth installment. By January 2019, he confirmed his exit from F9 but did not rule out a return for future installments.

However, following the release of Hobbs & Shaw, the feud seemed to have been settled, with Johnson even thanking “brother Vin” for his support.

Jason Statham Is Over The Dwayne Johnson Brand

With Johnson’s recent disaster in the Black Adam movie, it’s not surprising that Statham may have decided to switch sides and join Diesel’s Fast X franchise instead. Jason Statham’s departure from Johnson’s camp could be a big blow for the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson brand, which has already been hit hard by the failure of the Black Adam movie.

Jason Statham’s appearance in the first trailer of Fast X makes it seem like the actor may have felt that his association with Johnson was becoming increasingly detrimental to his career. Despite the undeniable chemistry and camaraderie between the two action stars, Statham may have felt it was time for him to pursue other opportunities.

This makes not having an update on a Hobbs and Shaw sequel a valid explanation for Statham’s re-entry into the Fast franchise. On the other hand, Diesel’s Fast X franchise continues to go from strength to strength, with Statham joining the impressive cast.

Get Ready For Some Fast And Some Furious

This move will surely stir tensions between the two Hollywood heavyweights as the battle for box office supremacy heats up. Fans await the outcome of this new development and how it will shape the future of the Fast and Furious franchise. However, Statham’s departure will leave a big gap.

The actor has been a fan favorite for many years, and his departure is likely to be felt by fans of the franchise for years to come. Fans of the Fast & Furious franchise are eagerly awaiting the release of Fast X, which promises to be an action-packed thrill ride.

With Statham on board, it’s sure to be a wild ride as the franchise continues to evolve and break new ground. So fasten your seatbelts as the Fast X franchise roars into theaters later this year.

Fast X will hit theatres on May 19, 2023.
