Jennifer Lawrence Earned $2.7 Million More than Sophie Turner For $246 Million Disaster X-Men Movie ‘Dark Phoenix’

Being an A-lister in the X-Men universe has earned Jennifer Lawrence a boatload of money during her tenure in the franchise as Mystique. But it seems that before shifting away from her Superhero roots, the actress went on to make another huge paycheck, even more than the lead of the movie, Sophie Turner herself.

Major celebrities receiving huge paychecks for cameos and small appearances isn’t something new, with RDJ reportedly earning $10 million for appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming for less than 8 minutes. And in Lawrence’s case, following her last appearance in the character of Mystique, the actress made sure she was making a fortune.

Jennifer Lawrence made a whopping $4.7 million despite having minimal screentime

Despite only appearing as Mystique at the beginning of Dark Phoenix, that didn’t stop Jennifer Lawrence from making a boatload of money. According to reports, The Hunger Games star took home around $4.7 million for reprising the role of Mystique in the movie. However, Sophie Turner, who played the lead in the movie, only earned a little over $2 million, a comparatively less amount than Lawrence’s huge paycheck.

However, it does make sense, considering over the last decade the actress has cemented herself as a prominent star and has delivered immaculate performances from time to time. And bearing in mind that she hated being in the Mystique suit, it does make sense that she was paid handsomely to endure the trouble again. But even though she loved working as the character, it seems we might not get to witness her anytime soon in the superhero realm again.

Jennifer Lawrence is done with Superhero movies for now

Despite enduring extreme troubles while playing the role of Mystique, especially due to the costume and makeup, which would take hours, Jennifer Lawrence didn’t regret her time in the X-Men universe. However, it seems that Dark Phoenix might have been the last time we would witness Lawrence in the superhero realm, as she has no interest in doing franchise roles anymore. Unlike her X-Men costar Hugh Jackman, who is adamant about returning to the role in MCU’s upcoming Deadpool 3, Lawrence doesn’t feel the same and explained her reasoning by stating,

“I loved superhero movies. Franchise is art and they’re so fun; I could never do one now because I’m too old & brittle. I love them too. This generation understandably likes a world to escape to, and I can relate to that.”

But even The Hunger Games star’s presence wasn’t enough to save the movie, as Dark Phoenix was bashed by both fans and critics and was only able to garner $246 Million from a budget of $200 million.

Dark Phoenix is available to stream on Disney Plus.
