Jerry Rice reportedly threatened two reporters who had asked the former NFL legend whether the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver room was good enough to win the Super Bowl.

The video captured at the American Century Championship over the weekend depicted the former San Francisco 49ers star confronting a couple of reporters.

The video gave rise to the perception that Rice had no reason to approach the reporters with such vitriol. However, the Pro Football Hall of Famer’s son claims there’s much more to the story.

Jerry Rice Jr. responded on X, formerly known as Twitter:

“Lol there’s more to this. Y’all stop the cap [crap].”

The tense exchange lasted a couple of minutes. Others got involved as well and tried to diffuse the situation. According to Yahoo! Sports, Rice said that the two men were clearly trying to get a reaction out of him. Given the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs beat Rice’s former team in the Super Bowl last year, he was bound to respond.

They appeared to have caught him off-guard as he was taking part in the American Century Championship, a golf tournament for celebrities.

Jerry Rice offers 49ers star advice

Jerry Rice cares a lot about the San Francisco 49ers, and he is aware of the contract situation involving Brandon Aiyuk. The star wide receiver has not been given the extension he wants, putting his status in jeopardy.

Rice advised the wideout to put football first via FanSided:

“I think his main focus right now, Brandon Aiyuk, is just to play football. Play football and just let his ability speak for itself, and we’ll see what happens after the season. That’s in his control. That’s what you want.”

According to Rice, it is natural that Aiyuk would love the security of a long-term contract, but must not miss the opportunity to go out and prove his worth to the team.
