The San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday for Super Bowl 58.
But the Super Bowl isn’t just a high-stakes event for the players. The coaches, team owners and fans also have a lot riding on the annual NFL championship game, including Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt.
Under Hunt’s leadership, the Chiefs are on the verge of becoming a dynasty, with four Super Bowl appearances and two championship wins in the last five years.
But who is Clark Hunt? How much is he worth? Here’s everything to know.
Clark Hunt, 58, is the son of legendary Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt and his second wife Norma Hunt. The Hunt family has owned the team since its founding in 1959, Pro Football Network reports. Their wealth is rooted in oil, according to Forbes.
Clark has been a part of the Chiefs’ leadership for nearly two decades. He became chairman in 2005 and was appointed CEO in 2010, both titles he still holds today. Following his father’s death in 2006, Clark was appointed “de facto owner,” which means he is the one to represent the team at all NFL owners meetings.
Since Hunt became CEO, the Chiefs have earned eight AFC West division championships, made the playoffs 10 times and the Super Bowl four times, and they have won two Super Bowl titles.
But it doesn’t end with football. Hunt is also a founding investor in Major League Soccer, serving as chairman and CEO of FC Dallas. He also founded Sporting Kansas City and the Columbus Crew.
