One of the Kansas City Chiefs’ top superstar players is reportedly “in danger” of missing Super Bowl 58 against the San Francisco 49ers next Sunday.
According to a report from Jeff Howe Of The Athletic, Thuney may have to miss the big game in Las Vegas due to a pectoral injury that he suffered in the Chiefs’ Divisional Round win over the Buffalo Bills:
“Kansas City Chiefs left guard Joe Thuney is in danger of missing the Super Bowl with a pectoral injury, according to a league source.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid hasn’t publicly ruled out Thuney, but the All-Pro didn’t practice Friday and will have to make significant improvement over the next week to have a legitimate chance. Thuney has been undergoing tests to determine the severity of the injury and whether it’s something he can play through, but there hasn’t been a lot of optimism.”
Thuney was inactive for the Chiefs’ AFC Championship Game victory over the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday. Despite Thuney’s absence, KC’s offensive line fared well and allowed just two sacks on Patrick Mahomes.
If Joe Thuney plays in the SB and the Chiefs win, he will become the 31st player to play in 4+ SB wins.
28 players currently have 4, former San Fran/Dallas DE Charles Haley has 5, and of course Brady has 7.

The Chiefs are playing in their fourth Super Bowl in five years. With a win against San Fran, they’ll become the first team to repeat as Super Bowl champions since the 2003 and ’04 New England Patriots.
