Following her recent appearance at the Wimbledon men’s finalKate Middleton seemed to be taking a definitive step forward in her recovery from cancer. However, not all is as it seems.

The Princess of Wales has spent much of 2024 undergoing cancer treatment and has stepped out in public only a couple of times — the latest being 10 days ago, to greet Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic after they contested the men’s championship at Centre Court. But events across the Atlantic Ocean have given the royal family pause amid fears for their safety.

On July 13 — the day before Kate returned to rapturous applause at Wimbledon — former US president Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at his rally in Pennsylvania. The alleged shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, had gathered plenty of information about Trump before attempting to gun him down — and he had researched other powerful figures, too.

According to officials with the Secret Service and the FBICrooks — who died at the scene — had information stored on his phone and laptops about President Joe Biden…and about Princess Kate. Investigators said that Middleton had a prominent place in Crooks’ search history on his encrypted Samsung Android phone.
