Katy Perry’s father has said he has forgiven Russell Brand for dumping his daughter after their brief 14 months of marriage.
Christian preacher Keith Hudson, 76, told The Mail on Sunday he holds no animosity towards the comic, who ended the marriage via text on New Year’s Eve in 2011.
He said: ‘I forgive him. We’ve all had our pasts, but thank God that we’re forgiven.’
Pop star Perry, 38, told Vogue in 2013: ‘I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending.
‘Then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I was like, ‘This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me’.’

Perry has declined to comment since Brand was accused of raping one woman and sexually assaulting at least three others between 2006 and 2013.
Her spokesman also refused to comment.
