Kim Kardashian has sparked furious debate about a sunset painting done by her 10-year-old daughter, North, that she shared on social media.

While some fans have been praising the artwork, others are doubtful that the SKIMS founder and Kanye West’s daughter actually painted the masterpiece.

The Kardashians star, 42, took to both Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter, to show off her eldest daughter’s artwork, which featured a shiny oceanside landscape and pinkish sunset.

‘North has been working on this sunset landscape painting for a few weeks and it turned out so beautiful. I’m so proud of my baby,’ she captioned the painting.

Some social media users were quick to express their disbelief.

‘Surely a 10-year-old didn’t do this, Kardashian or not,’ one X user wrote.

‘My toddler got his license today,’ one Instagram user commented sarcastically on the post.

Another social media user showed their distrust towards the Kardashians, writing: ‘I dunno man… I don’t wanna underestimate young talent but these Kardashians are liars & frauds.’

‘Ok so I’m just supposed to allow myself to be lead to believe a 10-year-old painted this… Kim… don’t p**s on my leg and tell me it’s raining,’ someone else tweeted.

Others praised North’s painting abilities and complimented the artwork.

‘Omg, beautiful… from one artist to another,’ one user commented on Instagram.

‘Sheesh… this girl is literally on track to be a legendary artist in the most serious sense. Like I’m talking one of the greats in her generation,’ another tweeted.

Even though one fan thought that ‘North drawing THIS at 10 years is insane,’ they still believed it was her, adding that she is ‘such a talent and I’m happy Kim is supporting her.’

Artists weighed in on the issue and explained that it was entirely possible for a 10-year-old to have enough skill to paint this landscape.

‘As someone who paints, this really isn’t that hard to believe especially if she put a few weeks into it,’ one artist stated.

Another penned: ‘I don’t get why people have a hard time believing a child did this. If you start them pretty young, give them teachers who push them for hours, it is very much possible. Kids are smarter than adults when it comes to mastering something.’

‘All the bitter people claiming North West did not paint this have clearly never heard of Bob Ross,’ a third tweeted.

They added: ‘With a good procedural art teacher, it is very doable for a child to produce a painting like this, especially if it’s landscape, and especially if that child has been taking lessons for years, which North has.’

Some astute Instagram users noticed that there was another sloppier painting on the ground which they believed to be North’s true artwork.

One user penned: ‘The real one on the left :P’

‘Compared to the one behind it?’ another asked.

‘Her real work is on the ground behind this one,’ a third stated.

Other users decided that the only true way to determine whether North actually painted the seaside landscape was for Kim to record a video of the young artist painting.

‘Kim we’re gunna need evidence because not a single person believes you,’ one claimed on Instagram.

Another tweeted: ‘Loooooool until I see an unedited video of her painting it I just don’t believe it.’

‘Can you record her next time doing so or at least a pic where she paints… cuz… u know the hate is biiig (sic),’ a third advised.

This isn’t the first time North has sparked debate over one of her paintings.

Previously the fashion mogul uploaded a picture of her daughter holding up a landscape painting of wintery mountains when she was just seven years old.

Similarly, debate was sparked about whether North could’ve painted the high-quality piece at such a young age.

Geoff Barnes, an artist and former painting instructor at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), spoke with VICE at the time, explaining he felt ‘a seven-year-old could totally absorb the process.’

‘The first thing I thought when I looked at the painting was oh, Bob Ross,’ he told the outlet, referencing the famous painter who gave painting lessons on the TV program The Joy of Painting.

‘It’s impossible to know what’s going on creatively in this child based on one painting, but a seven-year-old could totally absorb the process, follow the process, and come to this kind of result.’

One TikTok user also provided solid evidence for North being the true artist, claiming her mother taught the class during which Kim’s eldest daughter created the masterpiece.

‘I actually can’t believe right now that I am being put in the position where I am probably one of the only people in the world who has evidence to prove that Kim is not lying,’ she said on TikTok, before sharing a picture of herself at seven, proudly sitting beside a similar landscape painting.

‘My mom taught me how to paint this, and she taught North how to paint the same one just two weeks ago,’ she continued.

‘She’s been an art teacher for 30 years, and everyone that comes to her art classes goes through this exact same painting when they’re starting out.’
