Kim Kardashian might be known for her perpetually glammed-up appearance, but in a new interview with Refinery29 Wednesday, the reality star shared that she’s secretly battled with adult acne.
“Oh, I’ve gotten full acne, like full bouts of it,” the 42-year-old “Kardashians” star said, adding she keeps it covered “really well under makeup.”
“But I’ve documented it,” she continued. “I think if people saw it they’d be really shocked to know that I had that experience.”
As founder of her own skincare brand, Skkn by Kim, Kardashian started to play with different ingredients and products to try and “figure out” her changing complexion.

“I’m like, ‘should I stop using oils if I have acne?’” she told the outlet, declaring that “to stop using oil hasn’t been helpful.”
Her experience with acne inspired her to look into ingredients that she could integrate into her own line, such as pumpkin enzymes — which the mom of four started using “as a blemish mask” before creating her own Skkn by Kim Resurfacing Mask ($65), which launched Wednesday.
The product’s “main goal” is to give users “a post-facial glow” while “using a double chemical and enzymatic method,” Kardashian said in a Skkn by Kim Instagram Reel demonstrating the product.
“It’s been really interesting to try new products and figure out what works for different skin that I never thought I would experience in my 40s,” Kim said.skkn/Instagram

One thing the beauty mogul hasn’t been able to tackle is the psoriasis she inherited from momager Kris Jenner.
“I’m the only one of her kids that got it,” Kardashian said, admitting she’s “kind of given up on trying to figure it out” because she’s “still very confused” about what causes the issue.
“Sometimes I’ll be zen as can be, not a care in the world, and my psoriasis will completely flare up,” she told Refinery29.

When it comes to makeup, Kardashian admitted her tastes have changed over the years.
“I used to love super matte makeup and I never thought I would like super creamy products,” she said. “Now, I just want to look creamy and dewy.”
The Skims founder also shared that she’s switched up her approach in terms of skincare, telling the outlet that now that she’s in her forties she’s discovered “you just want to work with what you have.”
