Angel Reese Taunts WNBA Rivals After Sky’s New Head Coach Revealed

LSU alum wasn’t shy about bragging after team named Teresa Weatherspoon’s successor

The Chicago Sky have found Teresa Weatherspoon’s successor as it was revealed Las Vegas Aces assistant Tyler Marsh will be the team’s new head coach on Saturday.

Many around the WNBA praised the Sky for nabbing one of the league’s up-and-coming coaches, who also is in charge of the Vegas’ player development, and star player Angel Reese also gave Marsh her endorsement, posting a simple “W.” on X moments after the news was revealed.

While Reese was taking her victory lap, two Aces players seemed to take exception to her gloating about their losing a second member of their coaching staff after Natalie Nakase was named the head coach of the expansion Golden State Valkyries in October.

“Excuse me?! We’re grieving, have some respect!” Aces guard Sydney Colson exclaimed.

“Sorry but your time is UP,” Reese replied. “It’s our turn! I’ll send you some tissue tho sister girl unless you want to come join this side too.”

Aces forward Alyssa Clark saw Colson’s post and decided to join in. “Like give us a day. Dang,” she stated, to which Reese responded with “snatchiesssssss sorry not sorry sis.”

Reese’s remarks are likely a welcomed sight by the Sky front office.

The 22-year-old Rookie of the Year runner-up made it known she wasn’t happy after Chicago fired Weatherspoon after a 13-27 season in her first year as the Sky’s head coach.

“I’m heartbroken. I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me at such a pivotal point in my life.” Reese posted after Weatherspoon’s firing. “…You were the best reason & season. You didn’t deserve this but I can’t thank you enough. I love you Tspoon.”

Marsh was a part of back-to-back WNBA championship with the Aces in 2022 and 2023. He has a good young core to build around that includes Reese and 2024 No. 3 overall pick Kamilla Cardoso, plus Chennedy Carter if she re-signs.
