Lance Bass says NSYNC bandmate Justin Timberlake ‘will survive’ backlash from his ex Britney Spears’ explosive memoir… after the pop star escaped to Cabo with wife Jessica Biel

Lance Bass is giving a positive update about his friend and bandmate Justin Timberlake.

The 44-year-old NSYNC member shared with People on Tuesday that Justin and his fellow boy band members were ‘all good’ and would ‘survive’ this turbulent time.

He shared his update days after the Cry Me A River escaped the negative publicity from his ex Britney Spears’ explosive memoir by taking a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with his wife Jessica Biel and their sons.

In her memoir The Woman In Me, Britney claims that Justin impregnated her during their relationship and then urged her to have an abortion because he ‘wasn’t ready’ to be a father yet.

During his chat, Lance also dished on the pleasure of getting the band back together to record a new single after years apart.

Update: Lance Bass, 44, said NSYNC bandmate Justin Timberlake is 'good' and 'will survive' the backlash from Britney Spears' new memoir, according to People; seen in 2019 in Newark, New Jersey

Under siege: Justin has been lambasted by Britney's fans in recent weeks following the release of her explosive memoir The Woman In Me; seen in 2002 in LA

Back at it: In September, Lance and Justin reunited with the rest of their NSYNC bandmates to record the single Better Place; seen September 12 in Newark, New Jersey

The singer was somewhat coy when he was asked how Justin was holding up, and he instead spoke more broadly about the rest of NSYNC, noting that he talks to them ‘all the time.’

‘Yes, we’re all good,’ he said of his longtime pals. ‘People will survive.’

NSYNC came roaring back in September with the surprise release of the song Better Place, marking the group’s firs new song in over 20 years — as well as its 13th hit on the Hot 100 singles chart.

Even though Lance made it clear that he regularly keeps in touch with his fellow singers, he gushed about getting everybody together in person to record the new track.

‘Everybody’s spread all over the place, so it was just nice to be in the studio like old times, all together, being goofy teenagers again, just cracking the stupidest jokes,’ he continued.

‘It’s also interesting because conversations are different. We are adults now, and most of us have kids, and we’re married. So talking about kids is a little different from when we were 19,’ he added.

The song was created for the latest entry in the Trolls animated film series, Band Together, in which Timberlake voices one of the lead roles alongside Anna Kendrick.

Lance shared that the NYSNC members started discussing reuniting for a song in the spring of 2023.

‘It was unexpected to be doing a song this year, [but] it’s been incredible,’ he gushed. ‘Justin is the executive producer of the soundtrack of the movie, and it just made sense for us to get involved this year because of what the story is about. So he found this amazing song and we immediately fell in love with it.’

The latest entry in the hit children’s film series includes the revelation that Justin’s character Branch was once in a boy band, so it was particularly fitting that he recorded a new song with his own boy band.

Despite the decades between their last recording session and the latest one, Lance said it felt ‘like no day had passed.’

According to Bass, the group had planned to make a bigger public showing by attending a premiere, presumably for the Trolls movie, but they had to cancel those plans due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike against major studios and streamers.

However, the musician sounded optimistic that fans would get to see all five NSYNC members in one place again in the near future.

‘There’s definitely hopes for something fun in the future, because look, we had too much fun with just doing this one song,’ he says. ‘It can’t stop now!’

Going public: The band also got together to present the Best Pop Video award to Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards in September

At last: Lance gushed about getting back together in the studio with his pals after two decades since their last song was released; seen September 22 in Las Vegas

Dashed hopes: The group recorded the song for Justin's movie Trolls Band Together (pictured), and planned to attend a premiere before the actor's strike scuttled those plans

Controversy: Britney's memoir accuses Justin of cheating on her and urging her to have an abortion after he got her pregnant; pictured together in 2001

Although Lance was sounding optimistic, his friend Justin is currently keeping a low profile amid widespread criticism from fans of Britney Spears over claims made in her new memoir.

In addition to writing about an alleged abortion she had at Justin’s urging, she also claims that he cheated on her during the course of their three-year romance from 1999 to 2002.

So far, the Social Network actor has avoided making any statements in response to Britney’s memoir, and he has turned off comments on his Instagram account to head off a wave of negative responses.

Trolls Band Together will be released in theaters on November 17.
