Salma Hayek had a peculiar demand from Matthew Perry, before filming Fools Rush In, which Perry later followed.

Salma Hayek had a weird demand from late actor, Matthew Perry on the set of their 1997 movie, Fools Rush In. In his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, the FRIENDS alum recalled the moments when the high-profile actors worked together in the movie. He also wrote about the former giving her suggestions that didn’t align with what he wanted.

The rom-com movie revolves around Perry’s Alex Whitman and Hayek’s Isabel Fuentes, who form an unexpected connection with one another. After a passionate one-night stand, they impulsively marry only to find themselves in a plethora of challenges. The movie explores elements of love, cultural disparities, and hilarious situations which eventually give heartwarming results. Recalling the experience filming the movie, the latter recalled his co-star’s bizarre suggestion at the start of the shooting.

In his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing Matthew Perry recalled the bizarre suggestion his Fools Rush In co-star gave before the filming of the movie. She suggested that the pair would “spoon” for better chemistry.

As per EW, the former recalled,
“She came into my trailer at the start of the shoot and said, ‘Let’s just spoon a little bit.”
Salma Hayek‘s weird demand was not convincing at first but he eventually went ahead with her suggestion.

“I did my best Chandler impression — the double-take-and-sardonic- stare thing — and said, ‘Oh, OK ! Let’s just spoon a little bit!’”
He further talked about coming up with “some fun strategies to tap into real feelings and to be more of a leading man than a funny sitcom actor” as he recalled that his co-star always had some ideas in mind which weren’t exactly helpful all the time.

He recalled filming a scene where his character was “professing [his] love” for Hayek’s Isabel Fuentes. He commented that his co-star had a “very elaborate and lengthy idea” to execute the sequence but “her long-winded ideas weren’t always helpful.”

He wrote,
“There’s one scene in which I’m professing my love for her. She suggested that we don’t look at each other — rather, we should look out at our future together.”
He eventually decided to do things like he felt was right as he wrote,
“After listening to this nonsense for about twenty minutes, I finally said: ‘Listen, Salma,’ I said, ‘I’m telling you I love you in this scene. You look wherever you want, but I’m going to be looking at you.’”
Released on November 1 last year, his memoir revisits his time on the hit sitcom, FRIENDS, his addiction struggles as he details his life journey that was filled with ups and downs.

Meanwhile, the actor has passed away at the age of 54. He was found in a jacuzzi at his home as law enforcement sources mentioned that the first responders were called for cardiac arrest.
