“Really, LeBron James?” – Lakers star faces fans wrath over resurfaced ‘Diddy parties’ comment

LeBron James has generally kept controversy at bay for over two decades as one of the most high-profile figures in sports. “King James” hasn’t faced an off-court scandal, however, his image has taken a hit from an old IG video showing the four-time MVP conversing with Sean “P. Diddy” Combs that has gone viral.

The clip showed James exclaiming to the rapper, “Ain’t no party like a diddy party.” X (formerly Twitter) user Candace Owens called out the iconic player for that video:

“Is Lebron James going to weigh in on his friend’s ‘freak offs?’ I mean we hear from “the king” on virtually every political issue so this seems like an odd one to stay quiet about.”

Basketball fans promptly reacted to Owens’ post:

“Really, LeBron James?”

“LeBron’s career is over,” one fan declared.

“Remember, Lebron might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he knows Diddy’s got receipts on him and will put him right on blast if he starts acting holier than thou. By keeping quiet, he remains out of Diddy’s crosshairs,” another fan commented.

“That didn’t age well,” another fan said.

Federal agents arrested P. Diddy in New York on Monday. Before the arrest, his places in Miami and Los Angeles were searched by authorities. Among the things that were seized from Diddy’s place in March were 1,000 bottles of baby oil, which were reportedly used for “Freak-Offs.”

The hip-hop mogul has been accused of using drugs to force female victims and male sex workers into sexual encounters that could sometimes “last for days.” The sex trafficking scheme also reportedly involved high-profile names, forcing many to speculate who was involved in those films.

Many are waiting for LeBron James to say something about the situation. James’ silence has already been interpreted by most as a sign of complicity or guilt.

LeBron James unfollowed P. Diddy on Instagram in May 2024

For about eight years P. Diddy vehemently denied that he physically assaulted singer Cassie Ventura, his former girlfriend. A video, however, surfaced providing evidence to back Ventura’s claims. The rapper changed his stance and apologized, calling his actions “inexcusable.”

LeBron James promptly unfollowed P. Diddy on Instagram, a move that LA Lakers fan @LakeShowYo quickly noted. When he posted his discovery on X, the platform exploded with reactions.

The fans were divided in their reactions. Some thought “King James” was making a moral stand while others claimed the basketball reason had a different reason for doing so.
