In an interview with Uproxx, Mark Wahlberg talked about his Hollywood career so far and how he wants Dwayne Johnson to win multiple awards. Since Johnson wasn’t that big of a personality in 2015, Mark Wahlberg had some thoughts about Dwayne Johnson’s career.

“Well, I’m pushing for it and, I’ll tell you, we are already mounting a major campaign for the Globes and the Emmys. I had talked to him about doing the show and showing, he’s got a great career, but he’s been doing very commercial things.”
He further continued,
“To do something that’s really going to give him the credibility as an actor was something that was really interesting to him. And it’s a world that he knows and loves, so we wanted him to produce it with us and really make it his own.”
Although Wahlberg had high hopes for Johnson, HBO canceled Ballers after 5 seasons and the show and Johnson’s run as the character also ended with it.
