Chris Hemsworth’s Crime 101 Will Be A Spiritual Successor To Al Pacino’s Heat

Apart from the involvement of Chris Hemsworth and Pedro Pascal, the movie’s synopsis has also gained attention from crime thriller fans. The cop v. criminal story has drawn comparisons with the iconic 1995 film Heat. The Michael Mann-directed film depicted the conflict between the cop played by Al Pacino and a career criminal played by Robert De Niro.

According to a Deadline report, the film will be a spiritual successor to Heat, which gained $187 million at the box office. While no further details are available, speculation abounds regarding who would play the cop and who the criminal. The two established actors have great performances backing their caliber to play either character.

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will continue to entertain fans in upcoming Marvel projects. The Spiderhead actor has also established a franchise for himself with Netflix after the platform announced a third installment in the Extraction series. Pascal impressed the audiences with his recent roles, particularly in the HBO series, The Last of Us. Pascal is also set to appear in the sequel to Ridley Scott’s Gladiator.

As of now, the details surrounding the film remain unofficial, as no deals have been made for the film. Both Chris Hemsworth and Pedro Pascal expressed interest in the project before the SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, Deadline’s report states that the streaming giants, Amazon and Netflix, are competing to acquire the rights to the film. It is also reported that the platforms bid in the ballpark of $100 million for the multi-star project.

As per sources, Amazon holds an advantage over Netflix in the deal. However, considering Hemsworth’s history with the platform, Netflix is also actively in the run for the rights. The deal will reportedly happen with Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner’s Working Title Films and Shane Salerno’s Story Factory, both of whom conceived the project idea.

Considering both actors’s busy schedules with a lineup of big projects, the project is unlikely to happen until next year. However, it will be interesting to see what Chris Hemsworth and Pedro Pascal have to offer in Crime 101.

As viewers wait for further updates from the project, they can catch the Extraction series streaming on Netflix and The Last of Us streaming on HBO Max, to enjoy both the lead actors’ performances.
