Nike is once again under fire for the design of uniforms, but this time from Olympic athletes ahead of the 2024 Summer Games.
Current and former athletes have harshly criticized the USA women’s Olympic track and field team’s Nike-designed uniforms, claiming that the clothes have sexist undertones and an unnecessary skimpy design that has angered women everywhere, even on competing Olympic teams.
The men’s design was shorts that hit the mannequin’s mid-thigh. The women’s design, however, seemingly lacks material in the crouch area, and some women may find themselves very uncomfortable and exposed to certain camera angles.
“This is clearly a joke,” Femita Ayanbeku, a two-time Paralympian, wrote in a comment under an Instagram post about the uniforms. “I’m someone’s mom, I can’t be exposing myself in such ways. Where are the shorts?!”
