According to Opry Director Joe Barron, it was the first time anyone had ever made such a bizarre request:
“The phone here doesn’t ring. We only allow calls out,” said Booking Director Joe Barron, “It keeps our agents focused on only booking talent that deserves to be here.”
In this case, the talent simply didn’t qualify. “All those Grammys don’t impress me much,” said Shania Twain, who still thinks Brad Pitt is sexy even though there are reports that he’s a smelly dude, “if she wants a spot on a stage with the greats like Oliver Anthony and Kid Rock, she needs to sit by the phone as we all did.”
The Opry wouldn’t answer our call for a comment.
