Kenny Johnson was a top pick in the NBA but his daughter is aiming to top the charts with her music.

MANY children of professional athletes follow in their parent’s footsteps.

However, Jazz Anderson, daughter of former NBA All-Star Kenny Johnson, has taken up a career as a musical artist.

Kenny Anderson was drafted by the New Jersey Nets with the second pick in the 1991 NBA Draft. He was the youngest player in the NBA when he entered the league.

In his third season, Kenny averaged 18.8 points per game with 9.6 assists per game which earned him his first and only All-Star selection.

He was never able to sustain that All-Star level but went on to play an impressive 18 years in the NBA.

Over his career, he scored a total of 10,789 points with 5,196 assists and started in 693 games.

Anderson earned $63 million over the course of his career but filed for bankruptcy in 2005 after losing it all.

He was able to turn things around though, and since 2018 he has been the head coach of the Fisk University basketball team.

His daughter, Jazz, has recently found success in the music industry in Houston.

She recently released a project called The Experiment in 2021, which she said “experiments with her creativity and versatility as an artist.”

Jazz already had a 2020 album called Separation Anxiety, but her new album aptly experiments with different styles between songs.

Her mother, Tami Roman, was a TV personality and has helped her navigate the spotlight of being an up-and-coming artist.

She’s had many different labels put on her, so Jazz wanted to make a project that shows how diverse she can be.

“When I first started out, everybody said, ‘Oh, she’s a lyricist, she’s a conscious rapper,’” Anderson said to The Houstonia.

“Then I did a show on VH1 called ‘Signed’ and Rick Ross said ‘Man, you’re a lyricist.’ So it kind of stuck with me.

“I was very happy when he said that, but it got to the point people only saw me one way. So with The Experiment, me and my team really wanted to experiment with my versatility and diversity.”

She has released multiple singles since her 2021 project.
