Kanye West and Taylor Swift’s controversial feud has been a decade-long drama that has been one of the longest-running celebrity feuds. It all started in September 2009 as West interrupted the stage of the MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video following the announcement of Taylor Swift’s win. West claimed Beyoncé deserved the award better.

Taylor Swift admitted that Kanye West apologized for the VMAs incident but in 2010, her new song Innocent appeared to be directed at West. But the feud reached its peak when West responded with a vulgar lyric in his controversial song Famous, released in 2016. For context, the lyric of the song goes as follows, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have s*x, why? / I made that b— famous.” It was clearly directed at Swift. However, there’s a new story to it. West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian once claimed that Swift approved of the lyric.
“She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t. I swear, my husband gets so much sh*t for things [when] he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved,” Kardashian told GQ.
In response to her comment on GQ, a representative for Swift declined the allegation while claiming that her statement was influenced and they had nothing against her. After that, a series of songs by Swift has directly or indirectly indicated West, at least many fans seem to believe that.

As Kardashian leaked video footage of Kanye West’s phone call with Swift, the battle further erupted. And it was another spark to the long and tedious battle. West commissioned a videographer to film the entire process of the development and recording of the song. Later, speaking with Rolling Stone, Swift addressed the situation.
“The world didn’t understand the context and the events that led up to it. Because nothing ever just happens like that without some lead-up. Some events took place to cause me to be pissed off when he called me a b*tch. That was not just a singular event. Basically, I got really sick of the dynamic between he and I,” Swift told the magazine.
The singer went on to add that the feud was not based on a particular event but rather a chain of events that led to the long mishap. “And that wasn’t just based on what happened on that phone call and with that song — it was kind of a chain reaction of things,” she added.
