WNBA: Preseason-Indiana Fever at Dallas WingsNaLyssa Smith tosses 1-emoji reaction to DiJonai Carrington’s tweet calling out fans’ double standards on Caitlin Clark’s recent scuffle (Imagn)

NaLyssa Smith of the Indiana Fever shared a cryptic message on social media after girlfriend DiJonai Carrington’s post on Wednesday. Despite being on the Fever, Smith hasn’t stopped showing support to Carrington, even if that means getting in trouble with a portion of the fanbase.

Carrington sent a strong message on X seemingly directed at Caitlin Clark. They had already clashed last month when the Sun beat the Fever 89-72, with Carrington dropping 22 points against Clark’s 10.

After Clark was spotted shoving the Washington Mystics’ Julie Vanloo while trying to break free to get a pass, Carrington took to social media to share her thoughts on that incident.

“But I’m a racist, jealous, coon, monkey, hating a** b***h who needs to go back to Africa when I do it huh?” Carrington asked. “Please. Like I said, this is basketball.”

Moreover, she shut down a troll who asked if she watched highlights from the Indiana Fever game while in uniform after the Sun finished their game against the New York Liberty.

“1. Close!!! BUT no :/ my gf is on the fever😆 so I was trying to catch the rest of her game.

“2. This has nothing to do w/ Caitlin. This has to do w/ how nasty yall fAnS are to call me ridiculous things for somethin that is literally jus mfers hoopin

“3. I was still in my uniform🤭,” she tweeted.

NaLyssa Smith reacted to those messages earlier today, only using a laughing emoji in her post.

Even though Carrington tried to explain her post had nothing to do with Clark but her fans, people didn’t miss the chance to go after her.

NaLyssa Smith called out by Fever fans last month

The situation between NaLyssa Smith and Fever fans wasn’t the best last month. In the hottest moment of Carrington’s messages on social media, fans found out that Smith often shared content about Carrington on X. She watched a Chicago Sky vs Connecticut Sun game, which sparked a lot of bad comments.

NaLyssa Smith appears cordial with Caitlin Clark, even engaging in shooting contests with her, but fans appear to be paying extra attention to what she does off the court. She was under fire for suggesting she and Paige Bueckers should join the Golden State Valkyries.

Carrington is trying to help the Sun compete this season, just like Clark and Smith, but her online activity is catching her some flack.
