Nate Tibbetts expresses confidence about facing Caitlin Clark, stating they are eagerly anticipating the challenge-TT

The Phoenix coach is in good spirits

Caitlin Clark

Phoenix Mercury coach Nate Tibbetts does not seem at all phased by the prospect of coming up against Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever side in the WNBA.

The Mercury have been on a great run of form and that is largely down to Diana Taurasi. They recently recorded their seventh victory on home turf after winning against the LA Sparks and Tibbetts was in good sprits after that clash.

He was understandably asked for his thoughts on coming up against Clark given her talent and the immense amount of media attention on her, and he showed he is looking forward to the battle.

“I’m guessing it’s going to be awesome, just like it was tonight. Really a great thing for our organization and our league. We’re looking forward to it,” Tibbetts said.

A thrilling contest awaits

It will be the first time that the two franchises have come up against one another this season and the Fever are actually on a two-game losing streak and are 3-8 away from home.

Indiana Fever coach Christie Sides has urged Clark to be more assertive offensively after a passive performance in Thursday’s loss to the Seattle Storm.

Clark was disappointed with her own performance on Thursday, in which she didn’t shoot the ball from distance, which has been one of her marked strengths since arriving onto the basketball scene in college and then the WNBA.

Caitlin Clark needs to shoot a minimum of 15 shots a game for us,” Sides declared in her post-match interview.

“She’s got to get shots, and we’ve got to do a better job of setting her up, setting some really good screens for her to get her open,” Sides continued.
