Before the start of the 2023-24 NBA season, Rivers mentioned two teams he would like to play for

AUSTIN Rivers has not given up on his NBA career just yet.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard has hosted a private workout in Orlando, Florida, with hopes of securing a contract offer having been out of the league since the end of last season.

Reps from 10-15 teams reportedly attended the workout, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.

In videos obtained by Haynes, Rivers could be seen practicing spot-up shooting and firing three-pointers off the dribble.

The former first-round NBA pick showed off his skills alongside five-time All-Star John Wall, who has been without a team since February 2023.

Rivers, who launched a podcast at the start of this year, has been vocal about his desire to return to the league.

The ex-Duke standout said he even offered his services to Boston Celtics general manager Brad Stevens before the 2023-24 NBA season’s tip-off.

“I told him I’d love to be a part of the team,” he said of the team once coached by his dad, Doc Rivers.

“He said a lot of positive things. We’ll see if that’s something that will come to fruition.

“I’ve always loved Brad. I’ve always been a fan of him.”

Rivers mentioned the Miami Heat as the other team he would love to sign for.

“I would do anything to play for the Miami Heat, seriously,” he said.

“That’s No. 1 choice for me would be to play for Spo and play with guys like Jimmy [Butler], f**king dogs man, dogs bro.

“Go out there, play through illness, play through injury, play through soreness, defend, defend, defend.”

Rivers averaged 8.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 11 NBA seasons – and earned $57.4 million during his team in the league.

He spent the 2022-23 campaign with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
