Olympics legend Michael Phelps showers love on Caitlin Clark’s latest Kobe Bryant tribute
Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark is the talk of the town as she gets ready for her first WNBA All-Star game appearance in Phoenix. A day before the big game, the Iowa standout rocked a pair of Nike Kobe 6 PEs in practice. This is a special edition shoe and was unveiled by the late Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa Bryant.
Vanessa, who is dealing with the passing of her father-in-law Joe Bryant, reportedly gifted the shoes to Clark.
U.S. swimming legend Michael Phelps took notice of Caitlin Clark wearing the Kobe 6 PEs and reacted to the Instagram post by Nice Kicks.

Phelps is an absolute legend when it comes to the Olympics. He won 23 golds, three silvers and two bronze medals in five Olympics. He is by far the most decorated Olympian and his record is unlikely to be broken anytime soon.
Meanwhile, the 2024 WNBA All-Star game is scheduled to tip off at 8:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday at Footprint Center, Phoenix. The game will see the WNBA All-Stars face the USA women’s basketball team for the Paris Olympics. Fans can catch all the action live on ABC.
Caitlin Clark said she is trying to “just have fun” in the WNBA All-Star game
While Caitlin Clark is by no means the most experienced or the most decorated player in this year’s WNBA All-Star game, she is definitely the most talked about. ESPN conducted an interview with the Fever guard before the game. She was asked about the game and also not making the Olympic team. Clark said:
“I’m not motivated by anything, honestly. I’m just going out there to have fun. I’m not here to prove to anybody anything. I think for me, this is my first All-Star game. Just have fun, enjoy the experience, compete. I have so much respect for Team USA. I have so much respect for their coaching staff. They have the most talented team in the world.
“They’re going to have no issue winning gold. I’m going to be supporting them, cheering them on. So for me, this is never a, ‘I should be on that team.’ I know I have so many ways to continue to improve, and it gives you motivation for something to compete for in four years. So for myself, I feel lucky enough to be here as a WNBA all-star, and I’m just going to enjoy that.”
Responses like this prove that Caitlin Clark has a very good head on her shoulders. While not making the Team USA roster must have hurt, she knows that she will have more opportunities in the coming years.
