The Mahomes family officially welcomed a new member to its ranks on Nov. 28, 2022 when Patrick Mahomes III was born.

Mahomes III — who will affectionately be known as “Bronze” — was born on a Monday after the Chiefs’ 26-10 win over the Rams in Week 12.

“Brittany is a champ,” he said, per the Associated Press. “Everything went great and everything went smooth.”

MORE: Who is Patrick Mahomes’ half brother?

The Mahomes family had announced in the summer that they were expecting a second child on Instagram. They snapped a few photos of themselves and their daughter Sterling for the post.

In two of the pictures, Sterling stood behind a sign that read, “Big sister duties coming soon.” In another, she stood between her parents and behind a picture of the ultrasound of her sibling.

At the time, it wasn’t clear when Mahomes’ “Round 2” of fatherhood would begin. But now, he and his high-school sweetheart have a four-person family unit.

It seems like Mahomes is well on his way toward having one of the most well-known NFL families, given the attention that his wife and his high-profile brother have received over the last couple of seasons.

What does Mahomes’ family tree look like? Here’s a breakdown of its most notable branches after the family added another little one to the mix.

Patrick Mahomes’ dad: Pat Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes wasn’t the first professional athlete in his family. His father, Pat, spent 11 years as an MLB pitcher and played professionally for the Twins, Red Sox, Mets, Rangers, Cubs and Pirates from 1992 through 2003. He also had a stop with the Yokohama BayStars in 1997 and 1998.

During his time as an MLB pitcher, Mahomes posted a 42-39 record, a 5.47 ERA and 452 strikeouts. He last appeared in a major league game on Sept. 27, 2003, with the Pirates. However, Mahomes continued his playing career for six more seasons, bouncing around the minor and independent leagues before calling it quits in 2009.

The two Mahomes’ have a great relationship. Ahead of Super Bowl 55, Mahomes Sr. explained that he delivers a supportive, encouraging message to his son before every game.

“I tell him, ‘Players make plays, and I love you,'” he told Fox4 Kansas City. “That’s our thing we’ve had since he was 7 or 8 years old. I tried to reinforce it every game, whether it was two games a week in baseball or basketball or one game a week in football. I try to make sure he knows that I’m in his corner. I’m going to be there. And as long as he does the best he can, he will never hear a gripe from me.”

The elder Mahomes also travels from Texas to Kansas City to catch as many home games as he can. He did so in 2020 even despite the COVID-19 restrictions, as it was important for him to show up and support his son at the games.

“Wherever he is, he knows I’m going to be there,” Mahomes Sr. said.

It’s worth noting that the elder Mahomes is the reason that Mahomes II goes by Patrick instead of Pat. The two wanted to avoid too much confusion, so the younger Mahomes elected not to take on the “Pat” moniker.

Patrick Mahomes’ mom: Randi Martin Mahomes

Mahomes’ mother Randi wasn’t a professional athlete like his father. However, she played just as important a role in raising him and is the reason he stuck with football.

In an interview with ABC4 ahead of Super Bowl 54, Randi detailed that her son once wanted to quit football. She convinced him to continue playing.

“Before his junior year in high school he came to me that summer wanting to quit football, but I just said you’re going to regret it if you quit,” she told him.

Randi has been known to come to her son’s defense on Twitter. She blamed the refs for her son’s Super Bowl 55 loss against the Buccaneers and also went after Mack Wilson after he concussed her son during the 2021 AFC Championship Game.

She also uses social media to express pride and gratitude for her children; Patrick is no exception.

“I am very, very proud,” Randi said of Patrick’s performance in the NFL. “I always say were blessed. He`s blessed to be able to do his dream — to live doing exactly what he loves.”

Randi is divorced from Pat Sr., but they remain good friends. She has two children in addition to Mahomes, one of whom is his only full-blood sibling.

Patrick Mahomes’ brother: Jackson Mahomes

NFL fans have gotten to know Jackson Mahomes well over the course of the last year-plus. The 22-year-old is a social media star thanks to his 1 million-plus followers on TikTok and has generated a lot of attention as a result.

Of course, not all of the attention has been positive for Jackson. He has generated controversy for pouring a water bottle on a Ravens fan after Baltimore beat the Chiefs in September 2021 and drew criticism for dancing on Sean Taylor’s number when Kansas City played Washington.

The younger Mahomes also called out a Kansas City restaurant on social media for having bad service in December of 2021. The restaurant fought back and called out the celebrity in a post of their own.

Patrick has spoken to his brother about some of these antics, including the water bottle dump against the Ravens. However, he denied the report by Rich Ohrenberger that he asked both Jackson and his own wife Brittany not to come to Chiefs games in 2022.

Patrick Mahomes’ other siblings

Mahomes has several other half-siblings, both maternal and paternal, that are a part of his extended family. They are as follows:

Grant Mahomes (paternal)
Avery Mahomes (paternal)
Zoe Mahomes (paternal)
Mia Randall (maternal)

Of the bunch, Mia Randall is the most well-known. The 10-year-old has an Instagram account under the name of “Mia Bliss” that has over 14,000 followers, so she is somewhat of an Internet celebrity. The account is managed by her mother, Randi Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes’ wife: Brittany Matthews Mahomes

Mahomes and Matthews decided to tie the knot during the 2022 NFL offseason. The two married on March 12, 2022, in Hawaii.

However, the couple has been together for a long time. They were high school sweethearts and first became engaged shortly after Mahomes received his Super Bowl win after the Chiefs’ 2020 victory over the 49ers. They had a daughter together before getting married, too.

Brittany was a star soccer player in college and played professionally in Iceland for one year in 2017 after graduating from the University of Texas at Tyler. She is a trainer by trade and lists herself as an entrepreneur at Brittany Lynne Fitness, owner of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current and mother to her daughter, Sterling, and dogs, Steel and Silver, on her Instagram. She has 1.1 million followers.

Mahomes, like her brother-in-law Jackson, generated some controversy during the 2021 NFL season and 2022 playoffs. A video of her spraying champagne onto the crowd after the Chiefs’ win over the Bills went viral, and she caught flak for her act. She only dumped fuel onto that fire by tweeting the following on social media.

Patrick Mahomes’ daughter: Sterling Mahomes

Sterling Mahomes is the daughter of Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews. She was born Feb. 20, 2021, just a couple of weeks after Mahomes’ Chiefs lost Super Bowl 55 to the Buccaneers.

The couple posts plenty of pictures of Sterling on Instagram.

Sterling now has the distinction of being the family’s oldest child as opposed to the only child.

Patrick Mahomes’ son: Bronze Mahomes

Patrick “Bronze” Mahomes III is the newest member of the Mahomes family. The son of Mahomes II and Matthews was born on Nov. 28, 2022, and is now one of Mahomes’ two children along with Sterling.

Mahomes posted a picture of Bronze on Instagram Tuesday to confirm news of his birth.

As for Bronze’s unique nickname, Mahomes explained his brother Jackson played a role in its creation.

“When we had Sterling,” Mahomes told the AP, “we didn’t know if it was a boy or girl, so we thought of a name that could be a boy or girl. And we wanted them to have a connection. I always wanted to do Patrick Mahomes III, ever since I was a kid. I always thought it would be ‘Trey,’ you hear that a lot. So when me and (brother) Jackson were trying to think of something unique, he thought of ‘Bronze.’ It fit perfectly with Sterling. They can have that connection moving forward.”
