As the confetti settled in Baltimore, Patrick Mahomes Sr. puffed on a victory cigar and celebrated the Kansas City Chiefs’ return to the Super Bowl. When asked about his son, Patrick Mahomes, going for his third ring, Pat’s cocky answer sounded more like LeBron James when he joined the Miami Heat.

The Chiefs are the new NFL dynasty

The former MLB pitcher has never been shy about running his mouth, but the way he evoked James’ famous South Beach soliloquy felt like more than just post game trash talk.

With Mahomes, Andy Reid and the Chiefs clinching their fourth Super Bowl appearance in five seasons, Pat Sr. isn’t the only one drawing comparisons to sports dynasties. Kansas City is starting to reach the heights of Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the Patriots of the 2000s and 2010s.

“I’m always proud of him,” Mahomes’ dad also said during the postgame interview.

“I was proud of him before he started playing football. He makes me even more proud that he’s doing the things that he’s doing.”
