Patrick Mahomes may be well removed from his time with the Texas Tech Raiders, but the Kansas City Chiefs star hasn’t stopped giving back to them. The couple has reportedly made a massive $5 million donation to a project the school is working on for its football program.

“Patrick & Brittany Mahomes have dedicated $5 million to Texas Tech’s $242 million South End Zone & Dustin R. Womble Football Center project. The school will name its soon-to-be-completed walkthrough area in the Womble Football Center in his name,” Brett McMurphy wrote on X.

The school is working on the Womble Football Center, a project for Dustin R. Womble. Part of the center will be a walk-through area. Once it’s completed, it will be named after Mahomes.

Texas Tech AD thanks Patrick Mahomes for donation

Patrick Mahomes continues to make an impact on Texas Tech after leaving. He went into the NFL Draft after the 2017 season, so it’s been a while since he was there. He’s become a three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time MVP.

Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said via FOX 34:

“When we first launched this campaign, Patrick was only a freshman and now it is fitting that we approach the end of the campaign with a gift of his own. We couldn’t be prouder to announce this gift from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes.”

They are “so proud” of Mahomes for what he’s done in the NFL and for how he continues to represent Texas Tech well. Current football head coach Joey McGuire said something along the same lines:

“There isn’t a greater ambassador for Texas Tech Athletics than Patrick Mahomes. He is arguably the best brand in sports, not only for his success on the field but for what he and his family do off it. Since my hiring here at Texas Tech, it’s been evident to me just how much Patrick truly loves this university and football program, and this gift further emphasizes that.”

On behalf of the entire program, McGuire thanked the Mahomes for the impact the family is making for student-athletes and the future of Texas Tech Football.
