“Payment Dispute Forces Jason Statham to Exit $315 Million Franchise Prior to Hobbs & Shaw Role”

Back in 2002, Jason Statham made a name for himself as an action movie hero by playing the enigmatic driver Frank Martin in “The Transporter” flick. Despite his impressive movie portfolio, one series that stands out is the legendary “Transporter” franchise.

Jason Statham, the actor known for playing the tough character in the popular Transporter movie series, has decided not to reprise his role for The Transporter: Refueled. Despite being approached to participate, he declined the offer and ended his association with the franchise that earned approximately $315 million at the box office. Statham cited practical reasons for his decision, stating that the filmmakers wanted him to commit to three more movies without sharing any script details, and offered him less money for the three movies combined than he was paid for one movie. Although he enjoyed being part of the franchise, he felt the deal was unfair and chose to move on.

Jason Statham decided not to play Frank Martin in The Transporter franchise again due to business reasons. Despite his interest in being a part of it, he was not willing to commit to three films without seeing the script and for a low salary. Consequently, Ed Skrein took on the lead role in The Transporter Refueled. Although fans may have hoped for a reunion between Statham and Dwayne Johnson in Hobbs & Shaw 2, it seems unlikely as Statham has chosen to return to the main Fast & Furious series instead. Nonetheless, their chemistry in the first Hobbs & Shaw movie will always be memorable.

According to recent reports, Jason Momoa is set to join Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming Hobbs spinoff. Originally, Momoa was supposed to play the character of Mateo in Hobbs and Shaw, but had to drop out because of his busy schedule. Johnson revealed on Instagram that they had tried to cast him as his brother, but it didn’t work out. Nevertheless, Hiram Garcia from Seven Bucks Productions confirmed that Hobbs & Shaw 2 is currently being developed, with the plot being written. At the moment, there are no details regarding casting, but it seems that Statham may not be part of the project. If you’re in the mood for some thrilling action, the Transporter franchise can be found on Netflix.
