Cameras Catch NaLyssa Smith’s Reaction to What Fan Told Caitlin Clark in Fever-Sun

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are looking to keep their season alive as they take on the Connecticut Sun in Game 2 of the WNBA Playoffs first round on Wednesday.

With 1:29 remaining in the first quarter, Clark got into it with a fan in attendance at Mohegan Sun Arena. Clark then went to the referees and pointed out the fan. Security guards came over to remove him from his seat. At first glance, it looked like the supporter was getting ejected, but her returned to his seat a few minutes later.
Shortly after the fan was removed by security, Clark appeared to discuss what the fan had said to her with Fever teammates Lexie Hull and NaLyssa Smith.

Smith’s instant reaction was caught on camera, moving her head backward in a shocked fashion.

It is unclear what the fan actually said to Clark, but given Smith’s reaction to it, it couldn’t have been good.

For most of the season, Smith had been starting alongside Clark for the Fever, including Game 1 against the Sun. But in Game 2, coach Christie Sides elected to replace her with Temi Fagbenle as a matchup decision.

Smith was the No. 2 pick in the 2022 WNBA draft after four seasons with the Baylor Bears. In her three WNBA seasons, she has started in all but six games she has played in, averaging 13.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
