Reese’s play has been considered as dirty and nasty
Angel Reese has been criticized on a number of occasions throughout her rookie season in the WNBA, most notably for dirty plays, and there was another example of such an incident in Tuesday’s clash with the Atlanta Dream.
Reese made headlines with a massive block against Dream forward Cheyenne Parker-Tyus during the game, although many felt it was too forceful, verging on a dirty and nasty play.
Angel Reese press conference got weird after reporter’s intimate comment
Reese initially got boxed out of the paint after Parker-Tyus secured a position. Despite being backed down, Reese soared over the 6-foot-3 forward for a huge block, which led to a fastbreak opportunity for the Sky.
After the block, the former LSU standout stared down Parker-Tyus before heading back to the offensive end, much to the ire of those who felt the block wasn’t legal.
Reese can’t let incidents overshadow brilliant debut campaign
Reese has arguably been Chicago‘s best all-around player this season. Averaging 14.1 points per game, she ranks second in scoring on the team while leading with 11.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

Her 11.9 rebounds make her the league leader in average boards. Reese‘s tenacity, especially in the paint, has defined her career, but she can’t let it go too far.
Reese continues to improve, recording two or more blocks in three of the last four games. As she becomes more comfortable halfway through her rookie season, she’s finding easier defensive reads.
Reese is currently competing with Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark for the league’s Rookie of the Year award.
While Clark leads all rookies with 16.1 points and 7.4 assists, Reese’s versatility might give her an edge in the race for the trophy.
