New York-based designer Rachel Roy, who was in the centre of Beyonce’s and Jay Z’s cheating scandal in April, was spotted over the weekend at The International Woolmark Prize event in Mumbai.
The Bengali-Dutch fashion designer made news for singer Beyonce’s controversial lyrics in her last album Lemonade, in which it was inferred that Roy had an affair with Jay-Z. The lyrics alluded to a “Becky with the good hair” and Roy added fuel to the fire when she tweeted then, “Good hair, don’t care #nodramaqueens.”
At the time, Roy was viciously attacked by Queen Bey fans, leading her to delete her post, limiting access to her Instagram account and avoiding the public glare for a while. She also issued a statement, saying that there was no truth to the rumours.
In Mumbai on July 15, she kept her head down, even as she joined the jury panel deciding which designers would reach the global final for the menswear and womenswear categories to be held early-2017. She shared space on the jury with designers Manish Malhotra and Troy Costa.
Roy pulled out all stops for the occasion, wearing statement earrings and smoky eye makeup, before posing for selfies with Manish Malhotra. Roy is currently enjoying the sights of the city, posting pictures of her travels, including a stunning shot of the Prince of Wales Museum, which she call s “Bombay Beauty”.
