A former NFL wide receiver seems to have inside information on where Russell Wilson will end up.

Chad Johnson says he’s hearing quarterback Russell Wilson will make the jump from the Denver Broncos for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“We gotta work on the Steelers now,” Johnson said. “A little birdie told me, and I said this many shows ago, Russell Wilson’s coming on over to the Steelers.”

Wilson is still under contract with the Broncos but is expected to be released prior to free agency. This has been in the works ever since they benched him for the final few games of the 2023 season despite still being in the AFC playoff race.

Russell has $30 million in signing bonuses coming his way from Denver, but the team is supposedly willing to take on an $86 million dead cap just to get rid of him.

In March of 2022, Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos and then he received a five-year, $242.5 million contract extension. Less than two years later and now he is on his way out of the door. He ends his time there with an 11-19 record with 42 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense has been in a state of flux ever since the retirement of long-time starter Ben Roethlisberger.

The Steelers remain firm that Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett are their top options this offseason, but despite what they may say in public, the team still has a massive question that needs to be answered when it comes to who is going to be starting at quarterback in 2024.

Wilson’s glory days are long gone but he is still much better than what the Steelers have on their roster right now.
