Ringo Starr Explains Why Taylor Swift Could Achieve Greater Success Than The Beatles – and It Has Nothing to Do with Her Talent

Ringo Starr has revealed why Taylor Swift’s career could soar to even greater heights than The Beatles – because she can actually hear herself perform.

The world-famous drummer, 84, compared the singer’s domination to that of Beatlemania, which transfixed the globe in the 1960s, as the Beatles transformed from an unknown quartet in Liverpool to global megastars.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com at his birthday and Peace & Love event on July 7, Ringo shared his belief that Taylor, 34, has got what it takes to surpass the historical milestones that he achieved alongside John Lennon, Sir Paul McCartney, and George Harrison.

‘Of course, there’s a lot of people getting crazy when you come on stage,’ he said. ‘Now the difference is she can hear what she’s doing.

‘We couldn’t hear what we were doing because we were with the house PA, could you dig it? We had the house PA.’

The drummer, 84, described Taylor, 34, as a 'beautiful person' and praised her seismic career

Heaping praise on the Cruel Summer singer, he continued: ‘She’s a beautiful person. I have bumped into her and her mother at the Grammys or whatever. So I know her. God bless her. She’s doing good.’

Asked whether he had any advice for Taylor as she enters the the next few decades of her career, Ringo said: ‘I don’t think she needs my advice.

‘She’s doing pretty good as it is. Thank you.’

Throughout the Sixties, Beatlemania was the name given to the fanaticism that followed them as they grew in popularity, with crowds trailing behind them everywhere they went.

In the weeks leading up to their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, radio stations played the band’s music almost non-stop, and fans prepared to swarm upon their arrival.

Once the plane touched down in New York’s Kennedy International Airport on February 7, The Beatles were met by enormous crowds.

The Ed Sullivan Show performance was the main event of their 15-day visit in the states, amassing a nationwide audience estimated at 73million – now regarded a cultural watershed moment.

Taylormania is giving Beatlemania a run for its money - with the popstar becoming the first musician in history to surpass $1billion with her Eras Tour

Following the success, the band later returned for a month-long tour of the US and Canada in August 1964, performing the first ever stadium shows.

While The Beatles are considered one of the most influential bands of all time, it is undeniable that Taylor’s ongoing stratospheric success could prove competition.

Last week, the Pennsylvania native tied her personal best on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The songstress notched her 11th week at number one on the chart with her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, Billboard reported on Sunday.

That means she is tied for her longest stint atop the chart, after her earlier LPs 1989 and Fearless also spent 11 weeks at number one.

If the massively popular albums holds on it will become her longest consecutive streak at the top of the albums chart.

According to the publication, the last album by a woman to spend 11 weeks at number one was 1989, which achieved that feat in 2014 and 2015, though its stint was non-consecutive.

But the last time a woman had the same number of consecutive weeks at the top was all the way back in late 1992 and early 1993, when Whitney Houston scored 11 straight weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 chart with her soundtrack for The Bodyguard.

Taylormania has also hit new heights thanks to her highly publicized relationship with 34-year-old NFL player Travis Kelce

The popular record eventually racked up a total of 20 non-consecutive weeks at number one.

While The Beatles have more chart-topping hits than any other artists, Taylor is not far behind.

The Beatles scored 20 number ones during their global chokehold, including hits I Want to Hold Your Hand and Yesterday.

Taylor, on the other hand, has a total of 12 number ones under her belt, including Cruel Summer and Fortnight.

Seven of these number ones arrived in the last five years of her career.

In October, it was reported that Taylor’s lucrative Eras Tour will net her an estimated $4.1 billion.

The tour kicked off on March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, and is set to wrap on December 8, 2024, in Vancouver, Canada after 152 shows across five continents.

In December, it became the first tour to cross the $1 billion mark, with 4.35 million tickets sold across 60 tour dates.

As a result, Taylor has poured billions more into the US economy, with the huge production leading to extensive travel, ticket sales and merchandising opportunities for her legions of ‘Swifties.’

Over the past year, Taylormania has hit new heights thanks to her highly publicized relationship with 34-year-old NFL player Travis Kelce.

Given they are both all-time greats in their own industries, the couple have dominated headlines ever since their romance first blossomed last May, with the loved-up pair drawing attention from all across the globe.

The lovebirds are currently making the most of their time together while she continues the UK and Europe leg of her world tour, before he returns to training camp for the Chiefs on July 21.

And Taylor’s success is showing no sign of faltering despite some of her fans, or ‘Swifties,’ voicing apparent fatigue over her constant chart domination and seemingly never-ending release of TTPD variants – of which there are currently 30 plus.

Most recently, pop diehards suspected that her record label may have pulled some tactics to prevent Charli XCX’s Brat from topping the UK albums chart.

Prior to that, rumors had been swirling of behind-the-scenes friction between Taylor and Billie Eilish after Taylor dropped two ‘special’ editions of TTPD on the same day Billie released Hit Me Hard and Soft.

The move even prompted Billie’s manager Danny Rukasin to re-share – and then later delete – a tweet accusing Taylor of ‘breaking her neck doing everything to prevent other artists from shining.’
