Robert Griffin III is the latest sports personality to speak out on the alleged treatment Caitlin Clark has received in her first year in the WNBA. The rookie sensation has taken the league by storm with some tremendous displays that have dazzled the basketball world. That has created what appears to be some tension with opposing players.

During Sunday’s 92-75 victory against the Seattle Storm, Clark once again found herself in a back-and-forth with her opponents. Clark’s competitive nature is one of her best qualities and the former Iowa guard was seen walking past the Storm’s bench and then sharing some words with Seattle players. The tension was clear between the two sides with the coaches eventually getting involved.

In a recent post on his X account, Robert Griffin III addressed Caitlin Clark’s success and the conduct of some of her peers in the league:

“It’s VERY CLEAR WNBA players are tired of Caitlin Clark getting all the shine and being the vocal point of every discussion. It’s beyond competitiveness and physical play. They don’t even want to answer questions about her. If they don’t like it, THEN STOP HER.”

Late in the game, Clark was hyping up the home crowd when Seattle’s All-Star guard Skylar Diggins-Smith seemed to speed and clash with her.

Earlier in the season, Clark was on the receiving end of a hard hit from Chicago Sky’s Chennedy Carter on June 1. After that encounter, Carter said she didn’t want to answer any questions related to Clark during her postgame interview.

Clark’s impact on the league cannot be overstated. WNBA viewership and attendance figures have shot up and there has been a significant growth in corporate sponsorship since her arrival.

Caitlin Clark continues to shatter records in her rookie year in the WNBA

Caitlin Clark has hit the ground running since making the move up to the pros. She leads the Fever roster in points (17.8), assists (8.3) steals (1.4) and minutes (35.2).

In a 83-78 victory over the New York Liberty on July 6, Clark became the first rookie to record a triple-double, finishing with 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds.

A few weeks later, she broke the WNBA’s single-game assists record with 19 against the Dallas Wings.

During Sunday’s encounter versus the Storm, Clark suprassed Ticha Penicheiro’s 1998 record of 224 assists in a season, the most set by rookie player. Clark now has a whopping 232 assists with 12 games still remaining this season.
