From making her film debut in North (1994) to her portrayal of Charlotte in Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation (2003) and appearances in films like The Avengers series and Captain America: The Winter Soldier solidified her status in the movie industry. However, she felt the pressure of being an actor too.
The Pressure of Being an Actor, as Mentioned by Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson has spoken about the pressures of being an actor in various interviews and public statements over the years. In 2003, while speaking with Charlie Rose, Johansson said that she is someone who constantly struggles with her performances.

“I still see scenes in films that I’ve done and go, ‘God, why did I make that choice?’ or ‘Why did they use that take?’ and all that,” she said.
“The more films that you make that are successful, the more there is a certain pressure on you to keep making great films and keep being fantastic in them,” she said.
Nevertheless, her ability to transform herself into the roles she plays has garnered admiration from peers and critics alike and she has become one of the faces of Hollywood.
Scarlett Johansson has Made Her Whole Career out of being Second Choice
Scarlett Johansson, the Oscar-nominated actress told Parade magazine that she has “made a career out of being second choice.”
“Since a very young age, I’ve been rejected constantly,” she said.
The actress was initially not chosen up for perhaps her most recognizable role to date. The first choice to play Black Widow in the MCU, beginning with Iron Man 2, was Emily Blunt.

She recalled their “wonderful meeting” with director Jon Favreau where she asked him to call her if anything ever came up. As soon as Blunt had to leave due to scheduling issues, Johansson received the most anticipated call.
“I was really excited to work with him, so I said, ‘If this doesn’t work out, I’m an actor for hire, so call me anytime…The best call you can receive is after you are rejected for something and then you get it. You appreciate it more. I’ve basically made a career out of being second choice.”
And her role as Natasha Romanoff made her the world’s highest-paid actress. Without Natasha Romanoff, better known as Black Widow, the Marvel Cinematic Universe wouldn’t have been the same. And let’s admit it—without Scarlett Johansson, Black Widow wouldn’t have been the same.
