Taylor Swift is a national phenomenon, but the Bay Area might be a bit wary.

Ahead of the San Francisco 49ers’ matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl XLIII, one 49ers player’s mother let her thoughts be known on Swift, who is dating star Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Lisa McCaffrey, a self-proclaimed “Swiftie” and mother of running back Christian McCaffrey, made it clear on her soon-to-be daughter-in-law’s podcast that she is temporarily boycotting Swift.

“I refuse to listen to Taylor Swift songs for the next couple days,” Lisa said on Olivia Culpo’s podcast, “Your Mom.” “I love her, I love the relationship (between Swift and Kelce), but we are boycotting any T. Swift songs.”

That boycott will last at least until Feb. 11 when the Super Bowl kicks off. Lisa said Swift’s music will be a no-go on her running playlist and on the radio.

“She’s dead to us this week,” Lisa said.

As it happens, Swift got one of her various viral gameday outfits from Kristin Juszczyk, the wife of 49ers fullback KyleJuszczyk. But no matter, as there is a temporary pause in allegiance between many 49ers faithful and Swifties alike ahead of next Sunday.

The Super Bowl will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET in Las Vegas on Sunday. It’ll be a rematch of Super Bowl LIV, which the Chiefs won, 31-20.
