I don’t know what it is about Taylor Swift. I know all the songs by default now. I bought them for about $700 each and ended up selling them for about $2,400 each. What are we doing here today? We’re going to see Taylor Swift at the closing night of her tour. I’ve been forced to listen to the setlist of her tour on every car journey so far this year, so yeah, I’m looking forward to it.

Can you tell me what the opening song is? I have no idea. I’ve been told, but I don’t know. We’re at Wembley for Taylor Swift today. Are you a big fan yourself? Oh, yeah, today I am. I’m usually here for football, but it’s a different atmosphere today. How do you feel about that? I’m happy and excited. That seems performative. No, no, it’s just that I know all the songs by default now.

Do you plan to sing along during “Love Story” tonight? No, give me a few more years for that. I’m feeling great and excited. As a Chelsea fan, I’ve always wanted to come to Wembley Stadium, and now with Taylor Swift, it’s the best of both worlds. At least I didn’t make him dress up.

How did you feel when you found out you were coming here? I was so surprised and excited. I wasn’t the biggest Taylor Swift fan before this. I hadn’t seen her perform before, and then they put the “Eras” tour on a movie, and I saw it. That’s when I got it. I became a Swifty at that point. My partner kind of obligated me too, so I had no choice in the matter.

None? You were basically dragged here at gunpoint? How much do you think you spent coming here today? At the moment, we’re probably on about 300 pounds. I was willing to sell them up there, so you saw how much people were selling for. I thought we should probably do that. 3,000 pounds is a lot of money. People were selling them for 3,000 pounds, 1,000 pounds per ticket. I’m not kidding; you made a terrible financial decision by not doing that. That’s what I just said. Turn around and go get drunk in London instead. Like, rent for a long time. This was actually a surprise for Megan.

Oh, yes, it was a surprise for her. She probably wanted to go to the “Eras” tour, but it’s quite expensive and really hard to get tickets. I won the poll to get tickets for Vancouver in November, and at that time, we didn’t know if we actually wanted to go to Vancouver, so I sold those tickets and made a decent amount of money. That covered our flight over here as well as pretty decent seats here.

How much money did you make? I bought them for about $700 each and ended up selling them for about $2,400 each. Yeah, exactly. They’re really good seats. These scalpers that people warned you about. Right. So that paid for our flight over here as well as pretty decent seats here. Tell me how you got your hands on tickets for this. They were too expensive; they were very hard to get. Can you give a number? Like, about 1,200 pounds each, I think. Yeah, and the seats were really bad. I got the surprise tickets in May.

So tell me how you got your hands on them. I got resale tickets for far too expensive, but it doesn’t matter.

You’re dressed quite low-key compared to a lot of people today. Yeah, we’ve had that conversation. No sparkles. I look like I’ve come straight from work, which I have, but you know, what can you do. If you were designing your dream Eras tour outfit, what would it be? I’d have a few more sparkles, maybe a little cowboy hat going on, but apart from that, I think that’ll do me. As you can see, I’m a bit of a poet, so I’m getting into the theme with things.

Yeah, well, you’ve got to make the most of it. You only get to come once, so you might as well get into the spirit of things. Everyone else is dressed up, so I might as well. I actually wore this white T-shirt because I’m happy to ditch it since I’m going to get some Eras merch when we get here.

What was the thought behind your outfit? To not look too excited here. No, just to be a bit more low-key. I couldn’t find my Eras. We found her outfit, and it fit perfectly. I’m dressing like Travis Kelsey would dress, but I’m not wearing a hat.

If you were committed, you’d shave your head? I would do that, but she won’t let me. I actually brought it up. I was going to shave my hair, but she wouldn’t let me. I kind of dressed up enough for both of us. I spent ages making my outfit and then making bracelets since I found out. So she made a whole bunch; I made them all.

Charlie, you’re the bigger Swifty than CLA. I probably know more of the songs, to be honest. Which is your favorite Taylor Swift song? It’s got to be “Enchanted,” “All Too Well,” I think. I don’t know, you know, I probably know most of the words to that song, which is quite embarrassing in hindsight. The one with the goats in it, you know, “Trouble” where it goes, “me” — that one. It’s a parody. Well, that’s the one I know. “Shake It Off.” It’s got to be “All Too Well,” hasn’t it? The 10-minute version. So that’s probably the set piece of the show.

So what songs are you most excited to hear? Oh, absolutely everything. I’m hoping she releases her “Reputation” tour tonight or re-releases it tonight. I’m looking for “The One,” that’s my favorite Taylor Swift song. What song are you most excited to hear? Oh, I’m very into the “Lover” era. We actually got engaged yesterday. Oh my God, congratulations! Thank you, thank you. So I’m here for “Lover.”

What kind of music are you into? More sort of indie. I’ve been to quite a few gigs, none of them were Taylor Swift. What was the last gig you were here for? I think it was Blur. And a few Foo Fighters. A bit of a rock man, to be fair. Like, I was down here to watch ACDC about a month ago and stuff, so that’s more my sort of vibe. But I don’t know what it is about Taylor Swift. There’s just something that gets me going, you know?

I do, yeah. So I saw Dead & Company, so it’s Grateful Dead with John Mayer. Yeah, so not this. Very different. The last act we saw was Stereophonics, which is a bit more up my street. Very different. Is Taylor Swift your usual kind of music? Yeah, she is. I’d say guilty pleasure, but I’m not guilty about it. Yeah, I love it. Just pleasure. Yeah, absolutely, man. Like, Dean Martin and Elvis Presley, stuff like that. I quite like the old stuff. How does Taylor compare to those two? It’s a little bit different, but I definitely like her. She’s up there. She’s up there. Quite a range of things, to be fair. I mean, if Emily’s in the cards, definitely Taylor. But also Moonway Font and CC, that kind of stuff.

What’s the reverse of this, do you think? Oh, we already know the reverse because she bought me tickets for Anthony Joshua on the 21st. Oh, yeah, so we’re doing a swap. If that’s a tip for T, that’s unreal. There you go, you’re balancing each other out. Rob, you haven’t made as much of an effort with your outfit. I know, but I have made an effort. That’s what counts. I made this T-shirt and got it delivered last week. What more do you want? It’s a lot more than some men we spoke to. Exactly. I’ve made more effort than most dads, I think.

How long had you been planning the proposal? Oh, a while. I think it started to be after we got the Taylor Swift tickets and confirmed we were going to be in London. So it was like, get the photographer first, marriage second. Your priorities. Exactly. Is there anything you wouldn’t do for your girlfriend? No, that’s nice. She’s looking at us. That’s what I’m saying. Is there anything you wouldn’t do for your daughter? Oh God, no. Come again to Taylor Swift? I think once is enough. Come on, Taylor, we love you
