You would not be alone if you believed that Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo: Last Blood would be the series’ last installment. The word ‘last’ must be a hint, right? Unfortunately, it appears that the actor may be scheduled to perform that role once again.

While the Tulsa King star has stated earlier that he was retiring from the franchise, there is still talk regarding Rambo 6, especially given the actor’s propensity to return to characters he has previously retired from. Following his debut in 1982’s First Blood (based on David Morrell’s 1972 novel of the same name), Stallone’s Rambo became one of the 1980s’ most renowned action heroes.

After 1988’s Rambo III, the franchise was supposed to conclude – until Stallone resurrected Rambo in 2008, and then again in 2019 with Rambo: Last Blood. Although Rambo: Last Blood received mixed reviews from critics, the makers are committed to continuing the franchise.

 

Producers Discuss Sylvester Stallone’s Another Unwanted Sequel?

The first Sylvester Stallone‘s Rambo film is legitimately one of the best of the 1980s, but as the franchise churned out sequel after sequel, the quality faded. And now it appears that we may have to endure yet another installment in a series of films that we thought were dead and buried.

The most recent Rambo 6 information came from the Expendables 4 producers Kevin King-Templeton and Les Weldon, who are interested in the Rambo: Last Blood sequel.

When asked which film they would want to see a sequel to, Templeton recently informed ComingSoon:
“I think Rambo, I’d love to do another Rambo.”
Weldon confirmed that a sequel is definitely possible in the meantime.
“The same. Rambo. I mean, there’s several different franchises that we’re on, and we’re thinking about for the future. And as well as new projects. You know, it’s, again, it becomes a matter of if, if there is a demand from the fan base, we’ll be the first ones to jump on there, which is why Expendables is happening again.”
 

Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo Will Have a Sequel or Prequel? 

Despite the likelihood of a new Rambo film, Sylvester Stallone earlier told The Hollywood Reporter that it will not be a prequel as originally planned but rather a sequel featuring a fresh, contemporary Rambo.
“I think it’s going to happen. I wanted to do it like a Ken Burns documentary on Vietnam, where you drop young Rambo in there and he’s this outgoing guy, football captain, and then you see why he becomes Rambo. But what they want to do is a modern-day story where I pass the torch. That’s getting close.”

According to Stallone’s remarks, a Rambo sequel might mark the start of a fresh narrative that could inspire additional sequels in the future. A streaming home, production company, or potential release date for a new Rambo film has not been announced.

In 1982’s Rambo: First Blood, which grossed $156 million at the box office, the Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning actor debuted as John Rambo. Its sequel, 1985’s Rambo: First Blood Part II, made over $300 million. Stallone went on to reprise the role in Rambo III and Rambo IV, both of which he co-wrote and directed.

The film was followed by Rambo: Last Blood, which only made $91.5 million worldwide.

Stallone’s current upcoming project is the Paramount+ drama series, Tulsa King, in which he plays mafia capo Dwight Manfredi, aka The General. Tulsa King will premiere on Paramount+ on Nov. 13.
