Taylor Swift shocked her fans as she accidentally swallowed a bug while performing during her concert tour stop at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sunday.
Concertgoers immediately dropped silent as they watched the 33-year-old songstress abruptly turn away from the audience and start coughing in the middle of her show.
Before the attendees realized what had happened, the Midnights hitmaker quickly regained her composure and explained: ‘I swallowed a bug. I’m so sorry.’
An audible sigh of relief was heard in the crowd as fans began laughing with her at the unexpected situation.
‘[I’m] totally fine,’ the singer-songwriter — who sang a duet with Maren Morris at her show on Saturday — reassured Swifties in the clip shared by a Twitter user. ‘It’s just dumb. It’s so stupid.’
The twelve-time Grammy winner then turned back around and jokingly quipped: ‘Oh, delicious.’
As fans laughed in relief that she was fine, Swift asked: ‘Is there any chance that none of you saw that?’
‘It’s fine,’ the Pennsylvania-born musician sighed. ‘I’ve swallowed it.’
‘So, I’m just going to try to not do as many of those,’ she said unconvincingly before proclaiming that she could not guarantee that.
‘This is going to happen again tonight,’ she said. ‘There’s so many bugs. There’s a thousand of them.
The brief pause happened as Swift was still onstage in between songs during her Evermore set.
At that moment, she was about to perform her song Tolerate It from her ninth studio album released as a surprise in December 2020.
With the show on Sunday, she wrapped her three-day weekend visit in Chicago.
Next, Swift will continue on her sixth headlining world tour and perform in Detroit, Michigan on June 10.
Over the weekend, she made an exciting announcement that she would be adding more stops to her tour and visiting Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil.
She also revealed that Sabrina Carpenter would be joining her on tour as her opening act.
On June 6, tickets for the additional concerts in the Latin America leg will be available for purchase.
The Eras Tour kicked off on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona and is set to conclude on November 26 in São Paulo, Brazil.
