Taylor Swift breaks her own streaming record with the re-recorded release of 1989… as she prepares to resume the Eras tour

The only person, it seems, who can break a Taylor Swift record, appears to be Taylor Swift.

The newly crowned billionaire, 33, broke her own Spotify record for the most-streamed artist in a single day, according to a post by the streaming service on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The hitmaker released her re-recoded album 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on Friday.

Not only did she tally more plays of the LP, than any other artist, but it also set a 2023 record as Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day so far this year, according to Variety.

She set the record just over a year ago with the release of her album Midnights.

Record breaker:  It seems the only person who can break a Taylor Swift record is Taylor Swift. The singer broke the Spotify record for the most-streamed artist in a single day Friday

Spotify did not release the exact numbers, however, it did reveal that the new vault track S**t! (Taylor’s Version) made its US debut at Number one with 5.2 million streams.

Globally, that number was 11.3 million.

On the global chart, the singer’s non-vault track, Style, did even better with 11.6 million streams.

The singer, who is getting ready to return to the road on her Eras tour hasn’t made any comment about the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) success.

She did, however, thank fellow artist Kendrick Lamar on Instagram for agreeing to re-record the Bad Blood re-mix on the new release.

‘Watching @kenricklamar create and record his verses on the Bad Blood remix was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life,’ she penned.

‘I still look back on this collaboration with so much pride and gratitude, for the ways Kendrick elevated the song and the way he treats everyone around him.’

‘Every time the crowds on The Eras Tour would chant his line “you forgive, you forget, but you never let it… go!,” I smiled. The reality that Kendrick would go back in and re-record Bad Blood so that I could reclaim and own this work I’m so proud of is surreal and bewildering to me.’
