“I went to the same high school as Taylor Swift, we grew up in the same town,” she said in a video that has been viewed millions of times. “When she first started becoming super successful, most people hated her… There were general rumors about her being mean.”

"Taylor Swift opens up about why 'most people hated her' during high school, especially among her classmates."

Taylor Swift’s first album, released in October 2006 while she was still at Hendersonville High School, shot her to fame. It hit number five on the US Billboard 200 list and stayed in the charts for over 150 weeks.Jessica, a former classmate, said Taylor’s success sparked envy among other students who were also trying to make it in music.

“Jealousy was definitely a thing,” she confessed. She explained that many felt they had better vocal skills than Taylor at the time and said: “It’s not that these people weren’t talented, it’s just that most people don’t make it. Also, back then, Taylor didn’t have as good of control over her voice as she does now, so there were a lot of people in high school who [felt they] were vocally a lot better.

“Jessica also claimed that the boys who inspired Taylor’s songs weren’t too happy about being portrayed negatively in her hits. She claimed that guys who’d inspired Taylor’s songs were fuming about the songs written about them, adding: “Also, the guys she was writing these songs about they were still in school, they were still there. And now they have a hit song about them talking about what a s**ty boyfriend they are, you know?”
