Taylor Swift had her mother on her mind when she took home the award for Best Family Feature at the 2021 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday night.

The 31-year-old country singer–turned–pop superstar didn’t attend the show and the award wasn’t televised, but she didn’t seem to mind as she shared her ‘love’ for her mother Andrea Swift on Twitter.

After CMT posted a tribute video featuring clips from Taylor’s winning video for The Best Day (Taylor’s Version), the singer gushed about her mother in a quote tweet.

‘I LOVE YOU MOM,’ she gushed in all caps.

The award category focuses on songs and videos that heavily feature the artists’ families, or were recorded in collaboration with them.

The late-breaking category was added just days before the ceremony, and it wasn’t announced during the broadcast.

Back in April, the singer–songwriter shared a lyric video for the song that featured several never-before-released photos and videos featuring her and her mother Andrea.

The loving clip was part of the re-recording of Taylor’s second studio album Fearless, originally released in 2008.

She set about recreating each song on the original, plus bonus tracks, after Scooter Braun bought all of her master recordings after she claimed she had been denied the ability to buy them herself.

Now, fans have a new version of the album that they can purchase or stream that will prevent Braun from profiting off her music.

In addition to featuring her mother Andrea, Taylor’s The Best Day video also includes footage featuring her father Scott Swift and her brother Austin.

The singer has been open on social media about how much her mother means to her and how difficult it has been for the family as her mother has battled multiple cancers throughout the years.

Last year, Taylor opened up to Variety about coming to terms with her mother’s cancer spreading to her brain.

‘Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom, but for me, she’s really the guiding force,’ she said. ‘Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness.’

She first went public with her mother Andrea’s breast cancer diagnosis in 2015, and in 2019 she revealed to Elle that she had had a reoccurence.

‘It’s taught me that there are real problems and then there’s everything else. My mom’s cancer is a real problem,’ she said. ‘I used to be so anxious about daily ups and downs. I give all of my worry, stress, and prayers to real problems now.’

Taylor revealed to Variety that her mother found that she had developed a brain tumor amid her treatments for the breast cancer.

‘While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor. And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before,’ she explained. ‘So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family.’

The Grammy winner kept her tour for her Lover album fairly minimal in order to spend more time with her family, and the coronavirus pandemic prevented her from touring to support her surprise albums Folklore and Evermore.
