Taylor Swift was sartorially in sync with her boyfriend Travis Kelce as she stepped out in head-to-toe Gucci hours after the NFL star made the same fashion choice.
Amid the ‘fauxmance contract’ drama, the singer and the athlete, both 34, proved they were on the same page when it comes to fashion as they headed for dinner in New York on Sunday.
The pop superstar looked stunning in a two-tone tan Gucci minidress, strappy black heels and a $3,000 rounded black purse from the Italian fashion house – rounding off the look with her classic signature red lip.
Hours earlier, when they attended the U.S Open together, Travis had declared his love for the designer by wearing a Gucci bucket hat, polo shirt and cardigan.
While the decision may well have been coincidental, there also could have been a financial motive, with stylist to the stars Jessica Paster previously revealing that celebrities can be paid up to $250,000 to wear a designer’s outfits.
However, for many onlookers, it wasn’t about what the couple were wearing but who they were with – with Taylor coming under fire for hanging out with Brittany Mahomes.
There were rumors of a feud between Taylor and the 29-year-old former soccer player due to her support of Donald Trump, with a report claiming they didn’t sit together at the Kansas City Chiefs game because they wanted ‘different vibes.’
Many fans took to social media over the weekend to voice their disappointment in Taylor for still being friends with Brittany, given her support for Trump and that she had defended brother-in-law Jackson Mahomes amid sexual assault allegations.
Some even called the pop star ‘spineless’ and accused her of hypocrisy after her 2020 documentary Miss Americana featured her insisting ‘I need to be on the right side of history’ when it came to condemning Trump.
Despite the backlash, Taylor seemed in good spirits as she enjoyed their double date, with the quartet said to have hit a popular Mediterranean restaurant in Manhattan.
Pregnant Brittany cut a chic figure in a low-cut, pin-striped dress and oversized black blazer, showing off her toned legs in a pair over white knee-high boots.
Patrick, 28, kept it simple in a tan knit shirt and black pants.
Travis, meanwhile, swapped his striking Gucci ensemble from their day out at the tennis for a more laid-back look.
The tight end wore a white and black zigzag-striped knitted polo with a pair of dark dress pants and black cap.
The three-time Super Bowl winner clasped the songstress’s hand tightly, and while the appearance wasn’t as overly amorous as their courtside courtship, it was clear the couple were continuing their charm offensive in the wake of the scandal surrounding their romance this week.
Taylor and Travis were seen embracing one another in the stands at Arthur Ashe as world No. 1 Jannik Sinner took down American hope Taylor Fritz.
The loved-up display coming just days after pictures of a ‘break-up contract’ circulated online – causing the NFL star to draft in lawyers.
On Tuesday, Travis’s representatives were forced to deny that the couple have plans to split later this month after a document written on the headed paper of his US PR company was spread online.
The paperwork which appears to have been created by Los Angeles-based firm Full Scope, reveals a strategy to make their split, and says the date for an announcement is September 28.
It also outlines a supposed plan to release an official statement at the end of this month – three days ‘post-break up’ to ‘allow the initial media frenzy to settle and ensure clarity’.
The faux split wasn’t the only rift the Fortnight singer dispelled Sunday as she made it clear there was no bad blood between her and fellow Chiefs WAG Brittany.
A few weeks after Brittany liked a Donald Trump posts on Instagram, Taylor sparked talk a potential rift with her BFF after choosing not to sit together for the Chiefs’ win over the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.
Yet amid fears for their friendship, Taylor proved there’s no bad blood between them at Flushing Meadow on Sunday.
Both Chiefs WAGs were spotted at the US Open final along with their partners Travis and Patrick, with the four friends in the house for the final showdown.
DailyMail.com revealed at the end of last month that Taylor and Brittany implemented measures to save their friendship amid mounting speculation that the latter’s support of Trump could cause an explosive feud with the singer.
A source exclusively told DailyMail.com that they ‘respect that they have different views’ and have made a ‘pact’ to avoid discussing politics.
‘Taylor is not going to be written into this anti-Brittany narrative because they have made a pact to not discuss politics,’ they said.
‘They both know it can tear apart friendships and they respect that they have different views.’
The source claimed ‘Brittany knew better than to discuss politics’ at a recent party Taylor threw for Blake Lively at her Rhode Island mansion as she didn’t want to ‘risk confrontation over opposing views.’
‘It was an unspoken rule for everyone to avoid politics at Taylor’s home in Rhode Island,’ they said. ‘The topic was off limits.
‘It is not only Taylor who has not spoken out in strong support for either candidate, but Travis as well. They know how much influence they have.’
It has also emerged that Taylor and Brittany chose to sit apart for the Chiefs vs Ravens game this week because they wanted different experiences watching the NFL opener.
The BFFs sat together for multiple games last season and spent time with each other in Amsterdam earlier this year when the pop megastar was on tour.
Yet according to The Sun there is no animosity between them whatsoever. ‘They are very good friends and they were so excited to go to the game, but they had different plans as it happens sometimes,’ a source was quoted as saying.
‘Brittany is a family woman, and Taylor likes to enjoy the game sometimes like it’s a party. They felt like they were in a different vibe for the first game of the season. They did hang out for a bit before and after the game while waiting for Patrick and Travis.
‘But Brittany preferred for the first game of the season to be in a suite with family and the kids, in a bit more of a “low key” vibe. Taylor wanted more of a ‘party and drinks vibe’ for the game and enjoy it differently.
‘There are absolutely zero tensions between them, they love and respect each other a lot, they were just wanting a different kind of vibe for the first game of the season at home.’
