The Country star surprised the war veteran who is a passionate fan of her music, and belted out hits including Shake It Off

TAYLOR Swift might not have had much luck with men in the past, but all that changed as she made one 96-year-old admirer beam with delight during a surprise gig at his birthday party.

The kind-hearted pop princess put on a special show for her pensioner superfan Cyrus Porter, who represented his country in the Second World War.

Wildest Dreams singer Taylor wrapped up in a chunky black sheepskin coat and was escorted into the former soldier’s home in New Madrid, Missouri, through the back door.

As she stepped out from behind a curtain she was met by a wave of excited squeals with one lady even jumping up and down on the spot and rushing to be first to give the Country singer a huge hug.

The heightened emotion continued as she made her way to the birthday boy, bending down to give him a hug in his chair before shaking his hand.

She then posed for a selfie with delighted Cyrus, who wore a blue top and baseball cap.

She then proceeded to throw off her coat, whip out her acoustic guitar and play her lively hit Shake It Off as a special celebratory song.

Taylor was joined on the stage by a little girl who danced around as she belted out her song.

Cyrus, who has more than 50 grandchildren, relished her passionate performance in front of his huge family.

After the surreal experience, Cyrus’ grandson Robert Frye took to Instagram to post their selfie.

He gushed: “It’s a Christmas miracle!!!

“Thank you @taylorswift13. My grandpa was so excited!!”

Cyrus has become well-known in his home town for his love of Tay Tay’s hits, going to see her in gigs across America.

He told WBTV News: “I guess Taylor and a WWII veteran – I know they don’t go together.”

He added: “Look what she does, she puts on a show no one else puts on. I just liked the way the way she did stuff.

“Yeah, I just enjoy it, I’m getting old. I’m just enjoying everything.”

Meanwhile busy Taylor has been busy celebrating the festive period with her pals following her split with Brit actor Tom Hiddleston earlier this year.

The Sun was first to reveal their romance in a world exclusive yet the young lovers split shortly after.

So it was all about girl time for Taylor, who was snapped in front of her tree in a photo shared by her model friend Lily Aldridge, as they celebrated Christmas Eve together.

Joining them for the celebrations was Taylor’s oldest and best friend Abigail Anderson, who she has known since they were 15.

And to show their thanks and Christmas love to Taylor, both planted a kiss on her cheek under the Christmas tree, a cute snap that was then shared on Lily’s Instagram page and simply captioned: “Christmas smooches.”
